New York post-rocky emo vets Moving Mountains haven’t released new music in 10 years (the last time being on their 2015 split with Prawn) and they haven’t released an album since their 2013 self-titled album, but they just announced their first new LP in 12 years, Pruning of the Lower Limbs, due in just two weeks (June 27) via Wax Bodega (pre-order).
It was made by vocalist/guitarist Gregory Dunn, drummer Nicholas Pizzolato, bassist Mitchell Lee and guitarist/pianist Joshua Kirby–the same lineup as the self-titled album–and first single/opening track “Ghosts” picks up where the somber tone of that album left off. “‘Ghosts’ is a reflection on being present,” says Greg. “It’s about challenging the scarcity mindset, and freeing up space to allow yourself more time. It was one of the first songs written for the record, and I always knew it would be the first track on the album.” It comes with a music video featuring in-studio footage that was directed by Britain Weyant, and you can check that out below.
UPDATE: Moving Mountains have also announced their first shows in eight years, happening at Philly’s Johnny Brendas on October 16, Brooklyn’s Sultan Room on October 17, and Boston’s Rockwell on October 18.
