Modern Baseball release two ‘You’re Gonna Miss It All’ demos, announce reissue with hardcover photobook

Modern Baseball haven’t been active since playing three farewell shows in 2017, but their 2014 breakthrough sophomore album You’re Gonna Miss It All turned 10 this year and today the band announced a special 10th anniversary reissue featuring two previously unreleased acoustic demos of songs from the album, “Rock Bottom” and “Pothole.” The Jake Ewald (aka Slaughter Beach, Dog)-led “Pothole” was already a somber acoustic song on the album, but the Bren Lukens-led “Rock Bottom” is one of the album’s bangers that was only previously heard in this form during the band’s acoustic sessions. It’s a treat to hear these early version of these two classic songs, and you can check out both below.

The reissue comes with a 96-page full color hardcover photo book shot by Jess Flynn that captures the band during the You’re Gonna Miss It All era, with annotation from all four band members (Jake, Bren, bassist Ian Farmer, and drummer Sean Huber). “When I sift through memories of this time—hazy mornings in the van, Ian’s wild grin on a floodlit stage—I can hardly recall my own perspective,” Jake says. “Mostly I see Jess’s photos. I’m grateful not just for those moments made permanent, but for what Jess taught me as an artist. To tread quietly, thoughtfully, so that light might show itself. Certain people used to call Jess ‘the unzipper.’ On the road she had the uncanny ability to capture us at our most joyful and earnest, but also at our most needful, our most aching. While everyone in the room was staring at us, Jess saw us. For that, we thank you, Jess.”

The new reissue comes out on a few different vinyl variants, and the two demos are being released on an accompanying 7”. Pre-order here.
