Militarie Gun have released “Thought You Were Waving,” their first proper new single since last year’s great Life Under The Gun. Created with Zachary Dawes, the song is a chunky, mid-tempo alt-rock song that embraces the band’s Weezer-y side without totally shedding the grit of their punk roots. It’s a great song that feels like a clear step forward and you can watch its Neta Ben Ezra-directed video below.
Since releasing Life Under The Gun, Militarie Gun made the entrance music for Post Malone’s WWE 2K24 character and they released the Life Under the Sun EP with reworks of LUTG songs featuring Mannequin Pussy, Manchester Orchestra, and Bully, plus an acoustic NOFX cover. They also put out a mini doc called Live Under The Sun that was filmed at Manchester Orchestra’s studio and also features members of MO and MP, plus Pool Kids’ Christine Goodwyne stepping in for Bully.
The band has also been touring constantly, and they have more shows and festival appearances coming up, including a run supporting the aforementioned Manchester Orchestra on their Cope 10th anniversary tour. That includes NJ’s Starland Ballroom on September 8 and NYC’s Brooklyn Paramount on September 13. All dates are listed below.
