Mike Lindsay (Tuung, LUMP) announces debut solo album, shares “Lie Down” ft Anna B Savage

Mike Lindsay of Tuung and LUMP (his duo with Laura Marling) has announced his debut solo album, supershapes volume 1, which will be out June 14 via Moshi Moshi. The album features Anna B Savage, whose 2023 album in | FLUX Lindsay produced, and she co-wrote and sings on most songs on the album.

This is the first installment of Mike’s exploration of “the miraculous in the mundane,” and vol 1 looks at “everyday domestic objects, especially tables, coffee table books, and the daily rituals that shape us, heavily focusing on the majestic in the domestic.”

The first single is “Lie Down,” and if you’re familiar with Tuung and Lump, it’s in similar style, marrying the synthetic and organic in a warm, appealing way.

“The song itself is loosely based on reverse FOMO, when you’re out every night but yearning for domestic bliss, with all the menial tasks like taking out the rubbish and watching guilty pleasure telly,” Lindsay says. “There is an unsettling, never-ending cycle of sevens on this track, you never quite get to relax. Though you’re woozy from the bendy bass, wobble chords and lullaby woodwind, you’re snapped out it by fast scattered table percussion and wonk sax. The words Lie down Lie down Lie down… Are all recorded on my phone from members of my entire family at Christmas.”
