Marietta’s Evan Lescallette announces debut album by new project Home Star, shares “The Middle”

2010s-era emo revivalists Marietta are in the midst of a reunion tour that has been very wild, with packed crowds bouncing around and yelling every word, as we just witnessed ourselves at this past weekend’s Best Friends Forever festival. And while Marietta haven’t announced any new music, singer/guitarist Evan Lescallette did just announced the debut album by his new project Home Star. It’s called A Binding Life, and it comes out on January 9, 2026 via Born Losers Records (pre-order).

Evan says he started writing material for this project all the way back in 2015, the same year Marietta released their second and as-of-now-final album As It Were, and some of those decade-old ideas are present on lead single “The Middle.” It’s not a Jimmy Eat World cover, and it’s not Midwest emo either. It finds Evan diving into the grungy, power-poppy, ’90s alt-rock of bands like Weezer and Superdrag, and Evan proves to have as much of a knack for this kind of stuff as he does for the emo noodling of Marietta. Check out the new song below.

Meanwhile, Marietta had to reschedule their NYC and DC shows due to illness. Stay tuned for new dates.
