Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore have announced their first collaborative album, Tragic Magic, due out January 16 via InFiné. It was co-produced by Trevor Spencer, and Barwick and Lattimore were given access to the Philharmonie de Paris’ Musée de la Musique’s collection of rare instruments, in partnership with InFiné, to record it. “We were so lucky to have access to this experience,” Lattimore says. “There was a lot of reverence, working with people with such warmth and enthusiasm, bringing these instruments into a modern context, literally taken off the shelves of the museum.” Barwick adds, “We wanted to honor the past while making music that we feel is a true expression of ourselves.”
The album includes last month’s gorgeous “Perpetual Adoration,” and they’ve shared the second single, “Melted Moon,” which they wrote in response to the Los Angeles wildfires. Joel Kazuo Knoernschild directed and edited the accompanying performance video, which was filmed at Lou Lou’s Jungle Room at the Lafayette Hotel in San Diego in April, and you can watch it below.
Barwick and Lattimore will also be on tour together in 2026, with North American dates ahead of their appearance at Big Ears followed by shows in Europe and the UK. Tickets to all new shows go on sale Friday, October 17, and you can see all dates below.
Ahead of the tour, Lattimore will play a free NYC show at Lincoln Center’s David Rubenstein Atrium on Friday, November 14.
