The Pavement movie, PAVEMENTS, goes into wider release today, hitting theaters across major cities US and Canada, and with that the official soundtrack is out digitally. It includes recordings from the Slanted! Enchanted! jukebox musical that was staged for the movie, dialogue clips from the film (including the fake biopic Range Life), live and rehearsal tapes from the band’s 2022 reunion tour, and includes their cover of Jim Pepper’s “Witchitai-To,” and Snail Mail’s cover of “Shoot the Singer” performed live at the Pavement Museum in NYC. There are 41 tracks in all and the both the reunion tour and rehearsal recordings sound fantastic.

While Bob Nastanovich said that Pavement’s October show during the NY Film Festival would be the band’s last “for a very long time,” it looks like it won’t actually be that long. They’re playing Austin’s Levitation Festival this September, and Spiral Stairs has intimated it won’t be their only show. Stay tuned.
