If you’ve been watching the Grammys, you may have noticed that Lady Gaga premiered her entire new single and music video “Abracadabra” during a commercial break. The song/video is out everywhere now, and Gaga also confirmed that her new album Mayhem arrives March 7 via Interscope (pre-order). Like recent single “Disease,” which also appears on the 14-song album, “Abracadabra” sounds like an update on Gaga’s classic late 2000s/early 2010s vibes, and she’s very much still got it. “The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” she says. She describes writing these types of songs again as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
The video was directed by Lady Gaga, Parris Goebel, and Bethany Vargas and features choreography by Parris Goebel. Check it out below.
The album also features her Bruno Mars collaboration “Die With A Smile,” which won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance tonight. During her acceptance speech, Gaga said, “Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love, the queer community deserves to be lifted up.”
