Katy J Pearson announces new album, shares “Those Goodbyes”

Katy J Pearson has announced new album Someday, Now, which will be out September 20 via Heavenly. She made at the famed Rockfield Studios in Wales with producer Bullion (Nilüfer Yanya, Carly Rae Jepsen) and her band included labelmates Davey Newington (Boy Azooga) and Huw Evans (H Hawkline), along with Joel Burton (Naima Bock).

“I knew exactly who I wanted to work with, I knew exactly who my session band were going to be, I knew where I wanted to record,” says Katy. “It felt like I was finally calling the shots for myself, and that was so empowering.”

The first single from the album is its opening number, “Those Goodbyes,” that is breezy and melodic with vein of melancholy running throughout. “It’s funny, I used to feel like I had to go high for people to hear the vulnerability, but actually, singing in your natural range and being relaxed in it — I think there’s something a lot more vulnerable about that,” Katy says.
