Joanna Sternberg shares “A Country Dance” from new Jason Schwartzman film, opening for The Babies

Joanna Sternberg has shared “A Country Dance,” their third new single since I’ve Got Me, following “Without You” and “Neighbors.” The song is featured prominently in the new film Between the Temples, starring Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane, and directed by Nathan Silver, and it’s another great example of the whimsical bare-bones freak folk that made I’ve Got Me so appealing.

Joanna says, “The joke of the song is: I don’t dance, I don’t drink wine, I don’t go outside and I DEFINITELY do not go out in nature (allergies and insect phobias), but I wanted a playful nonsensical song to sing and to capture the fun I have with my dear pal.”

About the song’s appearance in Between the Temples, Joanna adds, “I think the reason the song can fit in this beautiful film, is that it captures a freewheeling imaginative feeling. The lyrics are vague enough to be applied to anything, and it just creates a ‘fun and fancy-free’ mood!”

Joanna has a few UK shows and festival appearances coming up, and then they’ll open one of The Babiesreunion shows, the one at Brooklyn’s Warsaw on September 24. All dates are listed below.
