In the past two years, Fucked Up have given us One Day and Another Day, and today they’ve surprised us with a third new album, Someday. This one features a handful of guest vocalists, including two songs with High Vis vocalist Graham Sayle and one with Fiddlehead/Have Heart vocalist Pat Flynn (two other genre-defying hardcore lifers that Fucked Up go way back with), as well as Max Williams of UK hardcore band Rifle (whose 2023 EP was produced by Fucked Up’s Jonah Falco), Canadian singer/songwriter Julianna Riolino, and Fucked Up’s Year of the Horse collaborator Tuka Mohammed.
Fucked Up’s usual lead vocalist Damian Abraham only takes lead on two of these songs (“City Boy [Fear]” with Graham Sayle and “Man Without Qualities” with Max Williams), and otherwise guitarist Mike Haliechuk sings lead on most of these, while Tuka Mohammed and Julianna Riolino handle lead on their songs. The album was mixed by Alex Gamble and mastered by Arthur Rizk. The band says, “This record is about how far our actions and our ideas can travel, and how we can plant consequences in the lives of other people without even realizing it and how we can use our lives to make this a better world.”
