Danny Elfman has been accused of sexual misconduct by another woman, Rolling Stone reports. After facing a new lawsuit from one accuser earlier this year that he had allegedly already settled with, a second woman has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Thursday, anonymously as Jane Doe. In the filing, viewed by Rolling Stone, she accuses Elfman of exposing himself to her on multiple occasions from 1997, when she was 21, until 2002. She also says he told her, “every time you have ever slept next to me, I would masturbate next to you.”
Jeff Anderson, the attorney representing Jane Doe and the previous accuser, Nomi Abadi, told Rolling Stone in a statement, “It’s important to this Jane Doe that Nomi knows she’s not alone anymore, that what was done to her by Elfman mirrors in so many ways what was done to Nomi.” He added that both women come forward to send a message to people who “made efforts to destroy the lives of others who found the courage to speak up.”
Anderson also told Hollywood Reporter that Jane Doe contacted him after learning about Abadi’s case and told him, “The similarities are so striking. Around the same age, both aspiring in the entertainment industry, looking to him as a powerful mentor and trusting him and not in a position to recognize that they were each being used and abused.”
A representative for Elfman denied all allegations in a statement to Rolling Stone, saying, “The allegations of misconduct made against Mr. Elfman are baseless and absurd. His legal team is assessing all options and he will vigorously defend these claims in court.”
The suit, which is filed against Elfman and his company, Musica de la Muerta, is for sexual assault, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotion distress, sexual harassment, and negligence, and Jane Doe is seeking damages “including but not limited to medical and incidental expenses and loss of earnings.”
Elfman is currently scheduled to appear as part of Disney’s “Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas in Concert” at Hollywood Bowl with Halsey, Catherine O’Hara, and Fred Armisen this month. He’s also on the lineup for Sick New World 2024.
