Conor Oberst is in the middle of his run of solo residency shows at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom. He’d promised a “discography-spanning set-list, surprise guests, and a rotating backing band” for the shows, and on night three on Thursday (3/21), he brought out his Better Oblivion Community Center bandmate Phoebe Bridgers during the encore, introducing her as having come “all the way from Pasa-dangerous California.” She joined him for a rendition of Bright Eyes‘ classic I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning track “Lua,” where they traded verses and harmonized, with the crowd singing along.
They followed that with renditions of Better Oblivion’s “My City,” and Conor’s Upside Down Mountain solo track “Double Life.” Watch video of all three below.
The rest of the night three setlist was heavy on Bright Eyes favorites, including “First Day of My Life,” “Lover I Don’t Have to Love,” “An Attempt to Tip the Scales,” “Contrast and Compare,” “Poison Oak,” “Make a Plan to Love Me” (which Azure Ray‘s Maria Taylor came out for, along with “Forced Convalescence”), “I Won’t Ever Ge Happy Again,” and more. Conor has one more LA residency show on March 28 at Teragram Ballroom, and he heads to NYC for another four-show run on April 4, 11, 18, and 25 at Bowery Ballroom.
