Brooklyn emo band Common Sage are gearing up to open Further Seems Forever‘s How to Start a Fire 20th anniversary shows alongside The Juliana Theory (playing acoustic), and now they’ve got a new single featuring guest vocals from How to Start a Fire vocalist Jason Gleason, “Hiraeth.” “Having the chance to really vibe with [Common Sage leader] Julian [Rosen], and then after hearing the demos and getting a taste for the vision of the tune I was totally hooked on this song,” Jason says. “I’m honored to have been asked, this band rips! I’m really looking forward to these upcoming shows as well and to seeing how the song will come to life when I get the pleasure of joining them live!”
Julian adds, “Jason is an absolute sweetheart, and I can’t thank him enough for doing this with us.”
The song picks up where Common Sage’s 2021 LP It Lives and It Breathes left off, channelling the dark, grand, sweeping side of 2000s-style emo and post-hardcore, and it should go without saying that Jason is the perfect fit for a song like this. “Hireath” was produced, mixed, and engineered by Movielife/I Am The Avalanche member Brett Romnes and it comes with a video by Adam Scrio that compiles vintage, grainy footage with the lyrics on screen. The Further Seems Forever/The Juliana Theory/Common Sage tour hits the NYC-area on September 16 at House of Independents in Asbury Park and September 21 at Gramercy Theatre. All dates below.
