The Jazz Foundation of American has announced the lineup for its gala concert, “a benefit for JFA’s life saving programs which provide housing assistance, pro bono healthcare, disaster relief, meaningful work, and direct financial support to musicians and their families across the country.” “A Great Night in Harlem” happens on March 28 at The Apollo Theater, and the lineup includes The Grateful Dead‘s Bobby Weir, Sun Ra Arkestra, a Max Roach centennial tribute (featuring Charles Tolliver, Dee Dee Dee Bridgewater, George Cables, Billy Harper, and Rufus Reid), The Titans of Jazz Drums (with Al Foster, Billy Hart, and Louis Hayes), and more to be announced.
Steve Jordan is musical director for the show, which honors Richard D. Parsons. Tickets are on sale now.
