So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
HOMESHAKE – “CD WALLET”
Peter Sagar has announced new Homeshake album CD Wallet which will be out March 8 via SHHOAMKEE. With the announcement he’s shared the breezy title track.

SIA & KYLIE MINOGUE – “DANCE ALONE”
Sia announced a new album, Reasonable Woman, and shared the first single, a pop banger featuring Kylie Minogue.

THOMAS BANGALTER (DAFT PUNK) – DAAAAAALÍ ! ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK
Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter has scored new movie Daaaaaalí!, which was directed by his old friend Quentin Dupieux (aka Mr Oizo). Says Ed Banger label boss Pedro Winter: “”Releasing this soundtrack with two of my all-time favourite artists felt like a natural and obvious choice! Since ‘Steak’ in 2007, Ed Banger Records has released most of Quentin Dupieux’s original soundtracks. When he told me he wanted to involve Thomas Bangalter in his project DAAAAAALÍ!, I knew it would become something special. Both Thomas and Quentin had a pretty clear idea of how the music could and should become a character in the film. Stepping out of his comfort zone, Thomas used only an ancient zither and recorded it in his Parisian studio. He delivered this repetitive theme from the 1930s that gets directly into your head and perfectly aligns with the surreal vision of this brilliant director.”

ERIC SLICK – “LOSE OUR MINDS”
Dr. Dog drummer and solo artist Eric Slick has announced a new album, New Age Rage, due out April 26 via Thirty Tigers. The first single is “Lose Our Winds,” which Slick calls “the manifesto for New Age Rage. Everyone has gotten so impulsive and reactive, myself included. We don’t give ourselves a second to think about the consequences of our actions. This song is my way of saying, let’s shed our toxic behaviors and embrace our flaws. When you turn to dust, you become a star. Why shouldn’t we cut loose and get on the dance floor while we’re still here? Relationships are the most important thing to nurture, so I invited my whole community to contribute to this album. We threw our whole lives into it, and I’m so excited to share it with you. It’s my favorite record I’ve made yet.”

OLOF DREIJER (THE KNIFE) – “CORAL”
The Knife’s Olof Dreijer has announced a new solo EP, Coral, which will be out March 6 via AD93. The title track is swirling and ethereal.

KATE NASH – “CHANGE”
Kate Nash has signed to Kill Rock Stars and released her first single for the label, “Change.” “‘Change’ is about relationships and how they are ever-evolving, constant effort is required to maintain good relationships,” she says. “You can’t become complacent with others or with yourself. But you also have to learn to accept when a relationship is over, whether it’s a romantic relationship or a friendship or a working relationship or even something within yourself that has become toxic or negative in some way. Things end, and that’s ok. My mum always told me to sleep on it if I was having trouble with something. She always said it’ll be easier to deal with in the morning, and that thought still comforts me now. When the sun comes up, it’s a new day, and there’s a new opportunity to make changes, make your bed, make a cup of coffee and be honest with yourself.”

ROSALI – “ON TONIGHT”
“Being ‘on’ is something akin to being in a flow state, where you’re zinging with divine inspiration, full of fire, and open to possibilities,” says Rosiali of her new song. “I kind of wrote the song from the P.O.V. of Eve seducing the snake and the narrative began to unfold as a lust for life: looking to know more and that in experiencing things, good and bad, that that knowledge will open your eyes revealing deeper understandings and meanings. So that your future can be lived in a bigger, more complete way through your own choices.” New album Bite Down is out March 22 via Merge.

MINI TREES – “SHAPESHIFTER”
Mini Tree’s new EP Burn Out is due out on March 1 via Run for Cover, and the latest single is synth-pop track “Shapeshifter,” which Lexi Vega calls “a song about desperately trying to fit in and find belonging somewhere. It’s a criticism of myself, how depending on who I’m with I have a tendency to change myself to try to look more like them and blend in. Calling myself a ‘well dressed actor’, ‘folding me inside out til I am a shell of myself’, losing myself in the process of trying to look like everybody else. I use the analogy of looking at a tapestry that I’ve sewn together and not being able to recognize what it is…asking the listener to interpret it for me, like asking someone else to just tell me who I am already.”

JON MCKIEL – “HEX”
Canadian producer and songwriter Jon McKiel crafts ’60s-sounding pop creations mostly out of samples, often of his own playing. His new album, Hex, on May 3 and this is the moody title track. “Hex” is a song that came about from sampling my voice and guitar,” says Jon. “Lyrically it wonders what darknesses might be at at play, personally or collectively. Sometimes observing systems and people on the brink of collapse, it feels as though there is a hex on all of us ~ a self imposed one given that the game was so long ago fixed. Social media puts a magnifying glass over all this, while the great reflection keeps our attention.”

TEI SHI – “QUÉDATE QUERIÉNDOME”
Tei Shi announced a new album, Valerie, and shared a new single from it, “Quédate Queriéndome.” “Although I wrote ‘QQ’ not from a place of romantic hardship, I wanted to display what I felt through this universal story of the doomed love affair,” she says. “With both the song and the video I sought to paint that portrait. I worked with Vogue Giambri on the video and choreography, which opens with a monologue Vogue wrote that I then translated into Spanish. What you hear in the intro is a mix of those versions, threading both languages similarly to how I do in my music. I have always loved bachata and knew I wanted to create my spin on it at some point. The process of mixing those acoustic elements and rhythms and bringing them into my eclectic world was a pivotal part of the album-making process…I think it sets the scene well for what else is to come on Valerie.”

LIAM KAZAR – “NEXT TIME AROUND”
Chicago singer-songwriter Liam Kazar has shared this new single that was made with regular collaborator Sam Evian. “‘Next Time Around’ came as songs rarely do, in a single vision. All I had to do was write it down.” Kazar says. “If I knew how to tap into those all the time, I would. We recorded ‘Next Time Around’ right after being on the road for a month in the fall of 2021. There’s a tour tightness to this recording that only comes from spending weeks in a van and onstage with another musician. I think you can hear that in the recording, the tiny bit of air between us while we’re playing packed close together — I feel like I’m right in the room every time I listen. Nod to Sam for capturing this moment so beautifully.”

REMO DRIVE – “ALL YOU’LL EVER CATCH”
Remo Drive’s fourth album, Mercy, is out later this month, and the latest single is “All You’ll Ever Catch,” which vocalist and guitarist Erik Paulson says is “a song about the circular thinking of anxiety. I wrote it as an invitation to myself to embrace what is, and to allow my subconscious and intuition guide me. Ironically, the song was labored over in a very self-conscious way. However, I do feel its message sinking in the longer I get to sit with my own advice.”

THE 1975 – “NOW IS THE HOUR” (COVER)
The latest single from the Jack Antonoff-curated and produced soundtrack to new Apple TV+ series The New Look is The 1975’s stately rendition of “Now Is The Hour,” written by Clement Scott, Dorothy Stewart, and Maewa Khaihau, and recorded by Big Crosby, among others.

BETH GIBBONS (PORTISHEAD) – “FLOATING ON A MOMENT”
Portishead singer Beth Gibbons releases her debut solo album on May 17 and this is the first single.

THE LEMON TWIGS – “THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO FALL IN PLACE”
The Lemon Twigs have announced A Dream Is All We Know, their sixth album, which will be out May 3 via Captured Tracks. The band’s Brian & Michael D’Addario recorded, mixed and mastered the album themselves.

THE PRIZE FIGHTER INFERNO – “PIONEERS”
Coheed & Cambria’s Claudio Sanchez is taking his solo project The Prize Fighter Inferno on its first ever tour, and ahead of that he’s shared a new single, which you can read more about here.

PUNCHLOVE – “GUILT”
Brooklyn band Punchlove have been making hazy, shoegaze-y rock since the start of the 2020s. Originally a duo, Jillian Olesen and Ethan Williams turned the project into a proper band during the pandemic and are gearing up to release their debut album, Channels, on March 1 via Kanine. “Guilt” makes for a nice introduction to the band; it’s dreamy and melodic but also packs a punch.
