Stin from Chat Pile recently told us about his five favorite Oklahoma bands of all time, and now the four members of Oklahoma City emo band Ben Quad have told us about five current OKC bands that they think everyone should know. Their list includes Chat Pile, as well as some smaller OKC bands in the emo / punk / post-hardcore / alt-rock / metal realm that haven’t broken out as much on a national level. If you’re into that kind of stuff, I have a feeling you’re gonna find at least one new band you might dig from their list, and their commentary gives you a very good idea of what to expect from each one. Watch the video below to see what they had to say.
Ben Quad’s sophomore album (and Pure Noise debut) Wisher comes out this Friday (11/14) and we’ll have more to say about that soon, so stay tuned. Pre-order your copy here.
As we speak, Ben Quad are on the road supporting Koyo on their fall tour, alongside Restraining Order and rising post-hardcore/metalcore band I Promised the World (who have been stirring up buzz with the new single they dropped via Rise Records last week). That tour ends in NYC on November 23 at Racket with additional local support from Koyo’s Long Island neighbors Ten Years Out.
Next year, both Koyo and Ben Quad will open for Arm’s Length on a Europe/UK tour. All upcoming dates are listed below.
