Last month, Oklahoma City emo band Ben Quad signed to Pure Noise and released the new single “You’ll Get Nothing and Like It,” and today they announced a new EP, Ephemera, and released its second single, “Your Face As An Effigy.” The new song doubles down on Ben Quad building a bridge between ’90s Midwest emo revival and 2000s melodic screamo revival, and this heavy, melodramatic direction suits them very, very well. Ben Quad are gearing up to go on the 2024 Pure Noise Records Tour with Microwave, Prince Daddy & the Hyena, and Just Friends, and Ben Quad and Prince Daddy also have some dates of their own (with Cliffdiver and Heart To Gold) surrounding the tour. The Pure Noise tour doesn’t hit NYC but will be nearby for shows at Norwalk, CT’s District Music Hall of November 15, Asbury Park, NJ’s Asbury Lanes on November 16, and Wantagh, NY’s Mulcahy’s on November 17.
