So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
JESSIE WARE & ROMY – “LIFT YOU UP”
You may have already heard Jessie Ware & Romy’s new single when they performed it during Jessie’s Glastonbury set this weekend but now here’s the studio version. “Lift You Up” was produced by Stuart Price and Jessie says, “I was so excited to be in the room with my friend and to see how she works and to hear her beautiful voice. I’m so proud of the record. It’s a song that’s about both of us being too hard on ourselves, and not believing enough in ourselves. I think anyone can relate to that. There was a wonderful serendipity about the fact that she worked with Stuart Price on the last record too.” Check out the studio version and the Glastonbury rendition:

BACCHAE – “DEAD MAN”
DC post-punk band Bacchae’s new album Next Time comes out this Friday (7/5) via Get Better Records, and today they’ve shared its third single, which is also its second explicitly anti-capitalist single.

INDY YELICH – “EAST COAST”
Lorde’s younger sister, Indy Yelich, has followed her 2023 EP Threads with a new single, “East Coast.” “I wrote East Coast after a toxic on-and-off relationship finally came to an end,” she says. “I had been traveling back and forth from NY to LA every couple of weeks, and it was taking a toll on me. Arguments over the phone, codependency across two coasts, and I just had this moment where I was driving along the PCH with friends and I was getting all these long text messages, and I just felt like throwing my phone out the window.” She continues, “I was in my early twenties, but he wanted me to be such a grownup, and I just wanted to be free and to create music that I love.”

WHITE HILLS – “FIEND”
NYC duo White Hills release new album Beyond This Fiction in August and here’s the latest song from it. The band’s Dave W describes “Fiend” like this: “Picture dark city streets with low lying fog. You feel haunted by a presence behind but as you turn around it disappears. You start to run, pursued by an invisible tormenter that turns out to be only your own perception of time and space.”

BEABADOOBEE – “EVER SEEN”
beabadoobee wrote the latest single from her new album This Is How Tomorrow Moves while on tour with Taylor Swift.

KILLER MIKE – “HUMBLE ME”
Killer Mike had a busy Sunday releasing new single “HUMBLE ME” and picking up Album of the Year at the 2024 BET Awards. “HUMBLE ME” is all about his arrest at the Grammy Awards ceremony in February which happened just after he won all three categories he was nominated for including Rap Album of the Year for MICHAEL.

SOFT KILL – “IN THE TOWN WHERE I WAS BORN”
Following their April album Escape Forever, Soft Kill have shared a new cover of Pinkerton Thugs’ “In The Town Where I Was Born,” from their new split 7″ with Liberty & Justice.

CASS MCCOMBS – “SACRED HEART” (DEMO)
Cass McCombs just announced reissues of his debut EP and first two albums and along with it will be a tape-only release of demos. Here’s the demo for “Sacred Heart” which ended up on 2005’s PREfection.

CASSIE RAMONE – “SWEETHEART”
Former Vivian Girls singer/guitarist Cassie Ramone self-released her third solo album, “Sweetheart”, last week. Her first solo record in nearly a decade, it was produced and recorded by Dylan White with Cassie, and Mac DeMarco contributes guitar and percussion to “The Only Way I Know How.”
