So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
DAX RIGGS – “EVEN THE STARS FALL”
Not only are Acid Bath reuniting for their first shows in nearly 30 years in 2025, singer Dax Riggs is also releasing his first solo album in 15 years, 7 Songs For Spiders, on January 24. Here’s the fuzzy, sludgy desert rock of second single “Even the Stars Fall.”

DIIV – “RAINING ON YOUR PILLOW (DANIEL AVERY REMIX)”
Daniel Avery says of his remix of DIIV’s “Raining on Your Pillow”: “I’m not sure where this remix came from but it ended up as a slow-motion strut through the strobe light. One of my favourite things I’ve done recently.” DIIV say: “He’s woven his unique sound into our lil jammer, taking it somewhere completely new.”

THE MURDER CAPITAL – “WORDS LOST MEANING”
The Murder Capital’s new single is a little grimy and grungy, not unlike Mark Lanegan, but still with the strong melodic sense they brought to Gigi’s Recovery. New album Blindness is out in February.

FRANZ FERDINAND – “NIGHT OR DAY”
Franz Ferdinand have shared a second single from their upcoming album The Human Fear. Like “Audacious,” the album’s first single, “Night or Day” is a little outside of what you might expect from Franz Ferdinand, but their flair for the dramatic and love of glam and onetime collaborators Sparks is evident here.

KIM DEAL – “NOBODY LOVES YOU MORE”
Kim Deal‘s first-ever solo album, Nobody Loves You More, is out this week, and she’s just shared the wonderful title track that comes with a lovely musical surprise midway through.

RETIREMENT PARTY – “SKATIN'”
Retirement Party currently identify as a “semi-active band,” and they’re looking a little more active at the moment. They just released their first single in two years, a bare-bones guitar/vocals song called “Skatin’,” and they have one upcoming show: they’re opening for Maps & Atlases at a Tomorrow Never Knows show in Chicago on January 18.
