So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
CLIPPING. – “PUSHING”
In addition to announcing that they’re playing Big Ears, the Sub Pop-signed experimental rap trio clipping. released a new single. “Pushing” finds them seesawing between buzzing industrial rap and a clean, soulful hook.

ADELYN STREI – “CLOUDS IN YOUR EYES”
NYC-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Adelyn Strei’s new album Original Spring is out this Friday (11/15) via Mtn Laurel Recording Co, and she’s given us a final early taste with ambient folk track “Clouds in Your Eyes,” which she says “completes the 48 minute arc of the album. The guitar and drums together have a determined resolve, carrying lyrics about loss, but the kind of loss that feels like wonder and gratitude. Very much a feet-on-the-ground/eyes-on-the-sky kind of song. The music accompanying video is a tumbling one way journey down a sunlit creek.”

TWO INCH ASTRONAUT – “CHECK PLEASE” / “HUMORIST”
Silver Spring, MD post-hardcore/indie rock band Two Inch Astronaut broke up in 2018, but now they’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of their 2014 sophomore album Foulbrood by releasing two new songs, “Check Please” and “Humorist.” They wrote the songs in 2018 before breaking up, and more recently they reworked them and recorded them with past collaborator J. Robbins of Jawbox. They’ve always had a Dischord-y vibe so working with J. is a perfect fit, and these songs are great.

JULIA HOLTER – “THE LAUGH IS IN THE EYES”
Julia Holter follows this year’s Something in the Room She Moves with “The Laugh is in the Eyes,” which she says “came out of the Something in the Room She Moves writing sessions and it shares that album’s devotion to transformation and bodily senses. There’s a loopy restlessness, a rhythmic 5ness alongside a 4ness, a circle and a square. Like in the song ‘Spinning,’ a surprise awakening awaits in the state of ‘night’—from stagnancy to the anticipation of flowers, flutes, feeling.”

ORIGINAL SHARKS – “174”
Brooklyn punks Original Sharks just released the new EP Style with three previously-released songs and the new song “174.” If you’re into fast, melodic punk like Strike Anywhere, Rise Against, etc, you might dig this too.

THE WARRIORS – “FOREIGN PAIN” (ft. TODD JONES)
Oxnard hardcore vets The Warriors are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2004 debut LP War Is Hell by releasing a new version of “Foreign Pain,” and this version features Todd Jones of Nails/Terror/Carry On/etc. Read more here.

SUPERHEAVEN – “LONG GONE”
The Superheaven resurgence continues! Following the TikTok-assisted virality of “Youngest Daughter” and the band’s return to touring, they’ve signed to Blue Grape Music (Gel, Spiritual Cramp, Code Orange) and released their first song in nine years, “Long Gone.” Read more here.

JESSIE WARE AND SALUTE – “HEAVEN IN YOUR ARMS”
Jessie Ware has teamed with Manchester producer salute for this new single. “I’ve been a fan of salute for a while and caught their set in Sonar this summer,” says Jessie. “From that point I was determined to work with them. salute sent me a load of tracks and this beat stood out. I wanted to make something optimistic and romantic. It reminds me of the garage I used to dance to in my teens but of course with salute’s unique and futuristic sound it feels brand new! I love the song and to see how it’s been going down in salutes shows in the states makes me so excited to perform it with them one day, or two!”

PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS – “DETROIT”
UK group Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs are back with their first new music since 2023’s Land of Sleeper. “’Detroit’ reflects on the worst manifestations of male jealousy and resentment,” says singer Matt Baty, “and the ways in which a lack of accountability can lead to deflecting responsibility in exchange for blaming external forces like fate or God for perceived injustice.”

MISO EXTRA – “GOOD KISSES” FT METRONOMY
British-Japanese artist Miso Extra has joined forces with Metronomy’s Joeseph Mount for this effervescent new single. She says it’s “about this crushingly insecure feeling you get when someone is not as into you as you are them.”

DOROTHEA PAAS – “MAYBE I’LL FADE”
Dorothea Paas’ new album Think of Mist is out this Friday and just ahead of that she’s shared this song that she considers to be the centerpiece of the album and a “psychosexual ode to Niagara Falls.”

DECIUS (MEMS FAT WHITE FAMILY) – “BIRTH OF A SMIRK”
Decius, the collaboration between Fat White Family’s Lias Saoudi, Trashmouth Records’ Luke & Liam May and Quinn Whalley of Warmduscher, have announced new album Decius Vol. II (Splendour & Obedience) which will be out January 31 via The Leaf Label. First single “Birth of a Smirk” is a banger.

DES DEMONAS – “THE DUKE ELLINGTON BRIDGE”
DC band Des Demonas will release their second album, Apocalyptic Boom! Boom!, on November 29 via In the Red. “The Duke Ellington Bridge” is a nice slice of soulful garage rock.

Today Squid announced new album Cowards and this is the sprawling opening track.

ST. VINCENT – “EL MERO CERO”
St. Vincent’s version of her new album All Born Screaming en Español, Todos Nacent Gritando, is out this Friday, and she’s shared a final advance single, “El Mero Cero,” or “Big Time Nothing.”

INTERPOL – “SAY HELLO TO THE ANGELS” (LIVE AT THIRD MAN RECORDS)
Interpol have announced a new album Live at Third Man Records, which will be out December 6 via Third Man. The album was captured live-to-acetate at Third Man’s Blue Room venue in Nashville back in June, and cut on a 1955 Scully lathe that originally came from King Records in Cincinnati.

ANIMAL COLLECTIVE’S GEOLOGIST & HIGHLIFE’S D.S. – “ROUTE 9 FALLS”
Animal Collective‘s Brian “Geologist” Weitz and Highlife‘s Doug Shaw have announced a collaborative album, A Shaw Deal, which will be out January 31 via Drag City. The album was almost accidental. During the pandemic, Shaw was posting clips of his guitar-playing on Instagram. Inspired, Geologist, took those, looped them and turned them into something new.

BDRMM – “JOHN ON THE CEILING”
UK band bdrmm will release their third album, Microtonic, on February 28 via Mogwai’s Rock Action label; it follows last year’s I Don’t Know. They made it with longtime collaborator Alex Greaves and it features contributions from Sydney Minsky Sargeant of Working Men’s Club and Olivesque of Nightbus. The record also finds the band exploring further past the shoegaze sounds that originally inspired them, as you can hear on the first single.

SUNNY WAR – “WALKING CONTRADICTION” (ft. STEVE IGNORANT of CRASS)
Sunny War is an Americana singer/songwriter with a punk edge, and her just-announced album Armageddon in a Summer Dress features two punk legends, Steve Ignorant of Crass and John Doe of X. Steve Ignorant is on the just-released lead single “Walking Contradiction,” which you can read more about here.
