So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
PINK SIIFU & TURICH BENJY – “PIG HEAD..’!!”
Pink Siifu and Turich Benjy released their new joint album It’s Too Quiet…’! today and it’s a dense, psychedelic rap album. One of its songs, “Pig Head..’!!,” also has an appropriately trippy video.

MICK MARS – “LOYAL TO THE LIE”
Former Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars has announced a solo album, The Other Side of Mars, due February 23 via Mars’ own 1313 LLC. It features vocalists Jacob Bunton and Brion Gamboa, bassist/producer Chris Collier, Winger keyboardist Paul Taylor, and Korn drummer Ray Luzier, and first single “Loyal to the Lie” doesn’t fall far from Crüe’s classic heavy metal tree.

GUIDED BY VOICES – “THE RACE IS ON, THE KING IS DEAD”
Guided by Voices will release Nowhere to Go But Up — their 39th album — in November and they’ve just shared the opening song. “The point is to always be seeking an interesting record—hopefully better than the ones before, but that’s subjective,” Robert Pollard says. “I seek to entertain myself and others, and I won’t release a record if I don’t think that’s happening.”

NITE JEWEL – “SKINNY DIPPER”
Nite Jewel’s new single accompanies Sex & Monsters’ new comic on Kickstarter. “The comic reimagines the Edgar Allen Poe poem ‘Annabel Lee,’ which tells a story of a beautiful woman is drowned by ‘angels’ who are jealous of her (I think we can easily unpack that metaphor…),” Nite Jewel writes. “Anyway! The authors Emily Roberts, April Snellings, Jelena Đorđević, and more, flipped Poe’s one-dimensional narrative to one of feminine empowerment—from the voice of Annabel Lee herself.”

JIGSAW YOUTH – “SIT ON IT”
Staten Island’s Jigsaw Youth will take you right back to the ’90s grunge/alt-metal era with “Sit On It.”

RAPSODY – “ASTEROIDS” (ft. HIT-BOY)
The great North Carolina Rapsody taps Hit-Boy for the hard-hitting trad-rap of “Asteroids.”

MARNIE STERN – “TIL IT’S OVER”
Marnie Stern says “Til It’s Over” is about “Trying to move forward after feeling betrayed and keeping your eye on the prize and not wallowing in self-pity.” It’s from The Comeback Kid, her first album in a decade.

ACETONE – “SHAKER”
New West is reissuing all of slowcore greats Acetone’s albums along with a comprehensive box set featuring all sorts of rare and unreleased material, including this track from the sessions for their final album, 2000’s York Blvd.

KATY J PEARSON & FRIENDS – THE WICKER MAN EP FT WET LEG, MORE
Cult horror classic The Wicker Man, and Paul Giovanni and Magnet‘s equally influential soundtrack, turn 30 this year, and to celebrate, Katy J Pearson has enlisted friends for an EP of covers of songs from the film that’s out today for Halloween. Songs From The Wicker Man features contributions from Wet Leg, H Hawkline, Drug Store Romeos, Broadside Hacks, Sara Meth, Orbury Common, Bert Ussher, Richard Norris and more.

COMA REGALIA – JAWBREAKER & JAWBOX COVERS, INFANT ISLAND – “DAYVAN COWBOY” (BOARDS OF CANADA COVER & MORE)
Screamo label Middle-Man Records put out the Grave Neighbors V.7 comp today, with tons of cool covers ranging from label heads Coma Regalia covering Jawbox’s “Send Down” to Infant Island covering Boards of Canada’s “Dayvan Cowboy,” and Coma Regalia also put out a two-song single with a cover of Jawbreaker’s “Busy” backed by their own “Equalized.”

BBYMUTHA – “GUN KONTROL”
bbymutha has signed to True Panther and her first single for the label is “Gun Kontrol,” which manages to be fun and menacing all at once.

FUCKED UP – “SPOT THE DIFFERENCE”
Fucked Up are in NYC with the Damned, having played Warsaw last night and playing Irving Plaza tonight, and they also just shared another outtake from this year’s One Day.

SAVE FACE – “GIRLS NOT GREY” (AFI COVER)
Save Face get in the Halloween spirit with a faithful cover of AFI’s “Girls Not Grey.”

SLOPPY JANE – “CANCER” (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE COVER)
Sloppy Jane shared a new My Chemical Romance cover ahead of her show opening for boygenius in Los Angeles tonight, which you can read more about here.

DJ HARAM – “HANDPLAY”
DJ Haram has announced a new EP, Handplay, due December 1 via Hyperdub. Here’s the dark, claustrophobic title track.

PANOPTICON – “THE BLUE AGAINST THE WHITE”
While you await folk/black metal musician Panopticon’s new album The Rime of Memory (due 11/29), he’s now shared the epic 15-minute closing track.

SHE-NUT – “CONDOLEEZZA”
She-Nut (aka Juicebox P. Burton) has signed to Get Better Records and will release her debut EP Demarcation on the label. The first single is the dark, heavy rap song “Condoleezza.”

FOOTBALLHEAD – “HABITS”
Footballhead self-released their debut album Overthinking Everything in June of this year, but now it’s getting a wider release on March 1 via Tiny Engines. The album was made with help from snow ellet, and if you like snow ellet’s bedroom pop spin on ’90s pop punk, you’ll probably like Footballhead too. “Habits” was re-released as the lead single today, with a new video.

EYE FLYS – “SLEEP FOREVER”
Philly sludge/noise rock trio Eye Flys have announced a new album, Tub of Lard, due January 26 via Thrill Jockey. If you like anything from Unsane to Chat Pile, check out lead single “Sleep Forever.”

DRIP-FED – LEAP FOR THE FOUNTAIN EP
Austin post-hardcore/punk band Drip-Fed have a new four-song EP out and it’s wall-to-wall ranges. Fans of stuff like The Bronx and Fucked Up, take note.

REMO DRIVE – “NO, THERE’S NO HOPE FOR YOU”
Remo Drive have released their first new song in three years, a jangly indie pop song called “No, There’s No Hope For You.” Read more about it here.

Brooklyn-via-LA grunge-pop band Momma and Houston grungy shoegazers Narrow Head have covered each other for a split 7″, with Momma taking on Narrow Head’s “Sunday” and Narrow Head doing Momma’s “Medicine.” Read more about it here.
