So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. CARLA DAL FORNO – “UNDER THE COVERS”
Australian artist Carla Dal Forno has shared another minimal synthpop gem from her upcoming album Confession. “This song is about the quiet kind of love—the kind that builds slowly in shared routines, small gestures, and the comfort of being understood without needing to explain yourself,” Carla says. “I wanted to capture a love that isn’t dramatic or fleeting, but steady and lived-in—where intimacy shows up in ordinary moments, and understanding becomes its own kind of language between two people.”

I AM THE AVALANCHE – “I MISS CALIFORNIA AND EVERY DOG I’VE EVER MET”
I Am the Avalanche’s first album in six years arrives this Friday, and ahead of its release they’ve shared a final advance single. “No truer statement,” frontman Vinnie Caruana says of “I Miss California and Every Dog I’ve Ever Met.” “There are people and places in California that I think lovingly about on a daily basis. And I think about their dogs. I think about everybody’s dogs.”

GOOSE – “GOOD2B”
Jam-agacent band Goose (not Geese) have announced their sixth album, Big Modern!, which will be out June 12 via No Coincidence. “‘Good2B,’ and BIG MODERN! as a whole, deal with the occasional state of flow amidst absurdity,” says Goose’s Rick Mitarotonda. “It’s doing the electric slide down the grocery aisle between the Pop-Tarts and Frosted Flakes. Hyper-convenience, hyper-connected; lost in the digital sauce and feeling pretty good about it. All while we’re left with the nagging questions: how long can this feeling last? How long can all of it last?” Here’s the first single.

AT THE GATES – “THE DISSONANT VOID”
At The Gates’ final album with Tomas Lindberg, The Ghost of a Future Dead, arrives later this month, and they’ve given us a second preview. “Today, our second single, ‘The Dissonant Void’, is out alongside a video that also serves as the first glimpse into a massive conceptual project,” they say. “Featuring painting, filming, editing, and production by Costin Chioreanu, the visual storyline expands and enhances the entire The Ghost of a Future Dead album. The full project will be unveiled soon, further extending the album’s release.”

HARMONY – “I’M STILL LEARNING HOW TO LEAVE YOU”
Harmony (formerly of Girlpool) announced a new album, Lifetime, due out June 26 via KRO Records. The first singl, “I’m Still Learning How to Leave You,” was produced by Yves Rothman, and Harmony says it’s “about the continued strength to surrender responsibility over a person you no longer have the strength to take care of. The pain of how strong the urge continues to be even when you are worlds apart.”

STEVE GUNN – “SHAPE OF A WAVE (SONIC BOOM REMIX)
Steve Gunn will release the ‘Shape of a Wave’ EP this Friday via No Quarter which features Sonic Boom remixes of two tracks from last year’s Daylight Daylight and two outtakes from that album. Here’s the Sonic Boom remix of “Nearly There.”

PRINCE DADDY & THE HYENA – “30DAYS30DAYS30DAYS” & “SHITSHOW OR BOULEVARD OF SOAKING DREAMS”
Prince Daddy & The Hyena unveiled two more tracks, “30days30days30days” and the Green Day-referencing “SHITSHOW or Boulevard of Soaking Dreams” from their new album Hotwire Trip Switch, which arrives next week.

YOUBET – “UNDEFINED”
“I wrote ‘Undefined’ while waiting for a guitar student and started to work out this interesting melody and chords,” youbet’s Nick Llobet says of the latest single off their self-titled new album. “The verse came quick which isn’t always the case with my songwriting, sometimes it takes me a while to develop a fully fledged section of a song. Things that come this naturally to me usually make the cut in terms of what I want to play with the band live or record.”

DARI BAY – “WE’RE GONNA BE OKAY”
Zach James of Robber Robbert and Unknown Mortal Orchestra announced a new album as Dari Bay, Surprise Wish, due out June 26 via Double Double Whammy. He says new single “We’re Gonna Be Okay” is about “being grateful for what you have because it can all be taken away from you. Around the time that I was writing this song my girlfriend and I were facing some obstacles in our lives, like housing displacement, some health issues, and a lot of general uncertainty. Just some ‘welcome to the real world’ stuff hitting us from different angles all at once. It was a strange and intense time, knowing we had reached a new low point but as a result feeling really lucky to have the stuff that we did have, like our community, and each other and a hope and excitement for the future.”

ORCUTT SHELLEY MILLER & DAVID YOW – “HOT HEAD” (CAPTAIN BEEFHEART COVER) / “A MAN NEEDS A MAID” (NEIL YOUNG COVER)
The trio of Bill Orcutt, Steve Shelley and Ethan Miller have teamed with The Jesus Lizard’s David Yow for this wigged out version of Captain Beefheart’s “Hot Head,” that also comes with a wooly cover of Neil Young’s “A Man Needs a Maid.” Says Yow: “I am extremely grateful for Don Van Vliet and the stuff he made, both the things you look at and the things you listen to, but no more so than OSM. That may or may not be the truth.”

RUNO PLUM – “PINK MOON”
runo plum’s new single isn’t a Nick Drake cover. She wrote “pink moon” after her first date with her girlfriend and collaborator Noa Francis. “The love I was experiencing felt like a ‘once in a blue moon’ situation–but we are both girls, so it felt cute to make it a ‘pink moon,'” she says. “It really is just a very tender love song, written after my first date with my girlfriend Noa. Looking back on it a year and a half later, it’s definitely a good example of the intensity of the ‘honeymoon’ phase. I recorded it while I was lounging in bed, the night after our date, and there was just something really special about the feeling of the first time playing it that felt impossible to re-create.”

DEER TICK – “EVERYTHING BORN”
“‘Everything Born’ was written quickly about the tenuousness of life and the precious time we have to spend with the people that come into our lives,” Deer Tick’s Ian O’Neill says of the latest single off their new album Coin-O-Matic. “It’s about family, friends, neighbors, strangers and how these thoughts burrow a little deeper the older we get. I was thinking about my son and the people of Providence, RI while writing it.”

RHODODENDRON – “LIKE SPITTING OUT COPPER”
Portland band Rhododendron release their first album for The FlenserAscent Effort, on May 15, and the new single is that chaotic “Like Spitting Out Copper.” Ezra Chong says it was “the first song written for the record after I had moved down to Eugene, OR for school. This was a decision in which I would eventually upend, but I look back on it as a good choice at that moment. The change of environment is reflected in this song, as it marked the point where we started actualizing the evolution of our music as opposed to just making updated renditions of past songs. My lyrics are purposefully omitted but this song is about the struggles that come with attempting and failing to take care of your basic needs on a day-to-day basis and the disillusionment that can build up in someone; specifically, it was inspired by a nasty bout of gingivitis I was dealing with at the time.”
