So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
PAYSAGE D’HIVER – “VERINNERLICHUNG”
Swiss black metal veteran Paysage d’Hiver will release a new album, Die Berge, on November 8 via Kunsthall Produktionen, and the album’s new single “Verinnerlichung” is a raw, wintry, evil soundscape that lasts for nearly 16 minutes.

MOFIE – “IDWBA”
Colorado singer-songwriter mofie has shared another track they worked on with producer Corey Coffman of Gleemer, the vulnerable “idwba.” “Its core revolves around depression and the dichotomy of wanting to seek solitude and retreat inward while simultaneously craving love and attention to draw you out,” they say. “Each chorus represents a different POV, the first capturing the aforementioned thought and the second coming from a more clear perspective; when you know you’ve hit rock bottom and understand and accept that you need help. Working with Corey over the years has helped me grow immensely in discovering the message I’m trying to convey and how to achieve that in the most honest way possible. That was no exception with ‘idwba’. He has always helped me sift through my ideas, harnessing the best ones while maintaining the openness to shoot from the hip and see what comes of it. Additionally, this song welcomes guitar hero Jack McManaman into my world for the first time and I couldn’t be more proud of what the three of us were able to achieve together.”

ARTEMAS – “HOW COULD U LOVE SOMEBODY LIKE ME?”
“I Like the Way You Kiss Me” hitmaker Artemas is o tour now (and hitting NYC tonight) and he just released a new single. If Portugal. The Man pivoted to emo-rap, it might sound a little like “how could u love somebody like me?”.

WALLICE – “DEADBEAT”
“I wrote ‘Deadbeat’ last October after a falling out with someone in my life,” Wallice says of the latest single off her debut LP, The Jester. “It is probably my most personal song to date – to be honest, it’s a very touchy subject that’s hard for me to talk about, but I am so proud of the vulnerability in this song. Using music to work through these emotions was a very cathartic process, and I think that feeling will resonate.”

PUNITIVE DAMAGE – “HATE TRAINING”
PacNW hardcore punks Punitive Damage have shared the pissed-off title track from their upcoming EP for Convulse Records, Hate Training.

DAUGHTER OF SWORDS – “ALONE TOGETHER”
Alex Sauser-Monnig (Mountain Man, The A’s) is back with a new single as Daughter Swords, “Alone Together,” which they say is “a song about reckoning with the need to connect when the rest of your life is locked in and satisfying. The cracking of the veneer of self sufficiency. Its content was mirrored in its recording, in the way recording a song demands vulnerability and community to bring it into fullness and reality.”

GOLGOTHAN REMAINS – “NECROPOLES”
Australian death metallers Golgothan Remains have announced a new concept EP, Bearer of Light, Matriarch of Death, due November 22 via Dark Descent. First single “Necropoles” is crisp, heavy, and atmospheric all at once.

STRANGER CAT – “HOLLOW HEARTBREAK”
Stranger Cat’s new album Slow Jam Love Letters to My Body in Pieces is out in November, and she’s given us a second preview with “Hollow Heartbreak.” “I wrote this song to deal with the breakup with someone who was deeply close to me,” she says. “I processed my pain through recording and producing the track: I wanted the opening to sound like the angels weeping. By the end of building the track I’d reached a total 180, through creating an 808s and synths dance party, letting it all go.”

WARMDUSCHER – “CLEOPATRAS” FEAT COUCOU CHLOE
Says Clams Baker of Warmdusher’s breakbeat-driven new single: “Beneath the surface of Willesden Junction, energy-siphoning aliens convene at Cleopatra’s. Here, they conduct social experiments on the heart of the city, manipulating its inhabitants and feeding off their vitality, all in pursuit of stardom.” Warduscher’s fifth album is out November 15.

CLAIRO – “LOVE SONGS” (MARGO GURYAN COVER)
New Margo Guryan tribute album Like Someone I Know comes out next month, and they’ve shared another track from it, Clairo’s dreamy rendition of “Love Songs.”

DURAN DURAN – “EVIL WOMAN” (ELO COVER)
Duran Duran take ELO’s classic and turn it into even more of a disco song than it already was. It’s on the Deluxe Edition of their Halloween-themed Danse Macabre album that’s out this week.

FAZERDAZE – “A THOUSAND YEARS”
Amelia Rahayu Murray says Fazerdaze’s new single “scratches the surface of the power dynamics I experienced in my late teens and twenties with someone 20 years older—a dynamic that lasted over a decade.” Amelia also made song’s video. “I wanted this video and song to feel unsettled, on edge, isolated and detached.” Fazerdaze’s new album, Soft Power, is out November 15.

THE OCELOTS – “ABOUT YOU”
Irish twin brothers Ashley and Brandon Watson, who live in Germany these days, make music as The Ocelots and have announced their second album, Everything, When Said Slowly, which will be out in February. Love song “About You” is the album’s first single.

SOPHIE JAMIESON – “I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAVE”
“This song was some kind of running break for freedom,” Sophie Jamieson says of “I Don’t Know What to Save” from her second album, I still want to share. “I was carrying the weight of my attachment to a person and all the pain entangled with them, but here came an out-reaching, a burst of energy and glimmer of hope. It was an enormous push towards letting go. The unbearable pain of detaching felt like entering some kind of eerie, unknown space that turned out, upon arriving, to be not only totally survivable but like pure, fresh air.” The album’s out January 17 via Bella Union.

THE CURE – “A FRAGILE THING”
Robert Smith’s voice is still a miracle as you can hear on the second terrific song to be released from The Cure’s forthcoming Songs of a Lost World.

ROSE CITY BAND – “LIGHTS ON THE WAY’
Rose City Band, the chooglin Pacific Northwest group led by Ripley Johnson (Wooden Shjips, Moon Duo), will release Sol Y Sombra on January 24 via Thrill Jockey. Here’s the first single.

YUKIMI – “BREAK ME DOWN”
The Little Dragon vocalist has shared her debut solo single, which you can read more about here.

KIM GORDON – “BANGIN’ ON THE FREEWAY”
Former Sonic Youth co-leader Kim Gordon released one of this year’s best albums so far with The Collective, and today she released a digital deluxe edition with two bonus tracks, including the new song “Bangin’ on the Freeway.” Read more about it here.

NADIA REID – “BABY BRIGHT”
New Zealand singer/songwriter Nadia Reid has announced a new album, Enter Now Brightness, and first single “Baby Bright” is out now. Read more here.

SONGHOY BLUES – “TOUKAMBELA”
Héritage, Songhoy Blues’ fourth album, will be out January 17 and they say it’s “a big thank you to the ancestors who bequeathed works of art so that future generations could orient themselves.”

EKKO ASTRAL – “POMEGRANATE TREE”
Ekko Astral have released a new six-and-a-half minute song and video, “Pomegranate Tree,” written about vocalist/bassist Jael Holzman and drummer Miri Tyler’s experiences as American Jews witnessing the horrific violence that Israel has been carrying out against Palestine for the past year.
