So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
HITECH – “SPANK!”
Ahead of Detroit ghettotech trio HiTech’s tours with Nia Archives and Show Me The Body, they’ve released a new song and video that’s all about spanking booty.

ALICE LONGYU GAO – “BIRD W/O NEST” FT. DANNY BROWN
Alice Longyu Gao’s new mini-album Assembling Symbols Into My Own Poetry comes out on October 23 via ÂŁÏÇÉ THE ŁÄBĘŁ, and she’s shared a Danny Brown collaboration from it, propulsive hyperpop track “Bird W/O Nest.”

DRUG CHURCH – “SLIDE 2 ME”
Drug Church’s anticipated new album PRUDE comes out in a few weeks (October 4), and today brings the album’s punchy fourth single “Slide 2 Me.” It’s also the second video from this album to star I Think You Should Leave‘s Biff Wiff. JAMIE XX – “WAITED ALL NIGHT” FT. ROMY & OLIVER SIM
Jamie xx reunites with his The xx bandmates Romy and Oliver Sim for the final advance single from his new album In Waves. “Thank you to my two best friends and musical siblings, Oliver and Romy,” Jamie says. “It’s wonderful to have the gang back together, working in new ways, working out new lives, I wouldn’t be here without them.” Romy and Oliver add, “We’ve loved collaborating on our recent solo projects but it’s been a while since the three of us came together on one track. We’re so pleased that this was the place we met up again. Proud to play a small part in this long awaited, brilliant album. We’re your biggest fans Jamie!”

THE COPYRIGHTS – “BURIED TREASURE”
Midwest punks The Copyrights have shared another catchy anthem from their upcoming EP for Fat Wreck Chords, New Ghosts.

OKLOU – “FAMILY AND FRIENDS”
French vocalist, producer, and composer has shared an ethereal new single, “family and friends,” ahead of her Brooklyn show at Market Hotel on Friday (9/20). “‘family and friends’ feels like a battle almost,” she says, “where I’d be searching for answers to unstated questions, escaping from something intangible, invisible. A memory? Maybe I like the idea that I’d be running away from something, and I’m looking for good reasons to run. Maybe I just like that.”

WALLICE – “GUT PUNCH LOVE”
Wallice’s debut full-length album, The Jester, is out on November 15 via Dirty Hit, and she’s given us another preview with “Gut Punch Love,” which was inspired by her mother’s search for her fiancé in Osaka in the ’80s. “You can’t necessarily hear the amount of tragedy in the song, because it feels like an alternative-rock song,” Wallice says. “But it is tragic, and I think it’s an important story.”

COLD COURT – “TWIN”
Cold Court are a new-ish Philly band who make chaotic rock music that they say was inspired by the likes of Death Grips, The Mars Volta, OutKast and Blonde Redhead. They’ve opened for black midi, Lip Critic, and others, and they have upcoming shows opening for Deerhoof in Philly (Underground Arts on 10/2) and Geese in Brooklyn (Music Hall of Williamsburg on 12/6). They’ve already built up a reputation as a powerful live band, and today they’ve released their debut single, “Twin.”

NARA’S ROOM – “GRAPE JUICE”
Glassy star, the new album from Brooklyn-based band Nara’s Room, comes out next month, and they’ve given us another early taste with “Grape juice.” “‘Grape juice’ is moody and absurd,” Nara Avakian says. “Dissonant and depersonalized, it takes the mundanetoo seriously with an embarrassing conclusion. In the music video, I’m directly inserted into the TV, distant and almost intrusive. There’s so much going on in the public sphere, and somehow the fixation is on a moldy bottle of ‘grape juice.'”

DAWES – “SURPRISE!”
“The things you hope for never arrive as anticipated, if at all,” Taylor Goldsmith says of the latest single off Dawes’ new album Oh Brother. “The things that scare you are not what you should have actually been worried about. The person you were wouldn’t recognize the person you are, but not in the ways you’d expect. It’s a song about getting older and taking stock in how elegantly (or not) we’ve all navigated the terrain.”

TUCKER ZIMMERMAN & BIG THIEF – “THE SEASON” & “THE IDIOT’S MAZE”
Cult folk legend Tucker Zimmerman will release Dance of Love, which features Big Thief as producers and as his backing band, will be out October 11 and here are two more songs.

TEEN JESUS AND THE JEAN TEASERS – “PLEASE ME” FT. THE LINDA LINDAS
“We just had to collaborate with The Linda Lindas on this one, because the musical style of ‘Please Me’ is very inspired by them,” Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers say of their new single “Please Me.” “Their song ‘Oh!’ has been one of our favourites for a long time so we knew they could help take ‘Please Me’ to another level.” It’s from I Love You Too, the deluxe version of their debut album, out this Friday via Mom + Pop.

FIEVEL IS GLAUQUE – “LOVE WEAPON”
“Songs can do more than ‘express,'” says Fievel is Glauque’s Zach Phillips. “They can divine, probe, find what’s not searched for. I wrote ‘Love Weapon’ with Sarah Smith for our band Blanche Blanche Blanche in early 2011. It’s my favorite recording on the album, and the one where the collage-editing of the live-in-triplicate recording approach sings the loudest. Blanche Blanche Blanche never really got our due, in large part because we didn’t want to. Does Fievel want to? No decision rendered, we seem to just bracket the question and keep working, building that uncertainty into the material. ‘How much love is enough now?” New album Rong Weicknes is out October 25.

LITTLE BIT – “LONG DRIVE”
Los Angeles-based artist Hannah Liuzzo releases her debut EP as little bit, talk a blue streak, this Friday, and she’s shared a final advance single, “long drive.” “I wrote ‘long drive’ when I was falling in love with the west coast, reluctantly straddling both ends of the country and feeling very emotionally bi-costal,” she says. “I’d been traveling and living semi-nomadically for a year, and the idea of committing to a single place was overwhelming, but I felt a draw to the mountains and coast line in Oregon and California that I couldn’t quiet. Moving from Boston, a city where I had lifelong friends, family, an established band, and a vibrant music scene felt like turning my back on my roots and abandoning a place I truly loved. But the idea of starting over in a new city was exciting and scary, and I knew that if I didn’t leave the place I grew up to write a new chapter, I’d always regret it. Serendipitously, this song also revealed itself to me as a metaphor for my reluctance to plant roots in other people. The verses and pre-choruses of ‘long drive’ are laced with skepticism, while the choruses are a full surrender, a desire to jump into the unknown and take a new experience as it comes.”

IMMERSION & SUSS – “IN THE FAR AWAY”
Immersion, the duo of Wire’s Colin Newman and Minimal Compact’s Malka Spigel, have collaborated with ambient country group SUSS on a new album. This is the first single.

KATRINA FORD (CELEBRATION) – “CRY WOLF”
Katrina Ford of Celebration will release a new solo album, H.E.A.R.T. (Heart Ember Abuse Resin Trend), on November 1. “‘Cry Wolf’ gives voice to things we feel we must keep quiet about to not be considered alarmist or too sensitive,” she says.

BLACK CURSE – “TRODDEN FLESH”
Denver black/death metallers Black Curse (whose members also play in Spectral Voice, Primitive Man, Khemmis and other bands from the fertile Denver metal scene) have announced a new album, Burning in Celestial Poison, and you can read about lead single “Trodden Flesh” here.
