So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
LADY GAGA – “THE DEAD DANCE”
The title says it all, but if you like Lady Gaga at her creepiest and her danciest, take note. She released a new song for Wednesday season two, and the accompanying music video was directed by Tim Burton, who’s an executive producer of Wednesday. The song was made with Andrew Watt, Henry Walter, and Cirkut, all three of whom worked with Gaga on this year’s Mayhem.

FINE – “PORTAL”
Copenhagen artist Fine has shared the third in a series of recent singles, the dreamy, hazy “Portal.”

CATE LE BON – “ABOUT TIME”
Cate Le Bon’s new album Michelangelo Dying is out later this month and she’s just shared a new song from it, the gorgeous and heartbreaking “About Time.”

WILD PINK & JOHN MORELAND – “THE FENCES OF STONEHENGE – EDIT”
Wild Pink are releasing a deluxe edition of last year’s Dulling the Horns, and it features this rework of album opener “The Fences of Stonehenge,” featuring John Moreland.

SAINT ETIENNE X CONFIDENCE MAN – “BRAND NEW ME”
Saint Etienne’s amazing 13th — and final — album is out this Friday and here’s one more taste before you get to hear the whole thing. Teaming with Confidence Man is a match made in heaven and fans of Saint Etienne’s early work like “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us” will really dig the effervescent “Brand New Me.”

HATCHIE – “LOSE IT AGAIN”
Australian artist Hatchie is back with her third album, Liquorice, due out November 7 via Secretly Canadian. It was produced by Jay Som, and Harriette Pilbeam says, “This album feels like the culmination of everything I’ve wanted to do with this project since I first started it. I focused on the finer details of the trajectory of love found and lost, inspired by my favourite tragic romance films. I’ve never felt more aligned with an album and can’t wait to share the experience with everyone.” The first single is the dreamy, wistful “Lose it Again.”

PORTUGAL. THE MAN – “DENALI”
Portugal. The Man are gearing up for the Denali Tour, and now they’ve released a new single of the same name, which is also named after a mountain in the band’s original home state of Alaska. It’s a propulsive psychedelic pop song that finds the band in fine form.

THE MYNABIRDS – “RAMONA, PATRON SAINT OF SILENCE”
Laura Burhenn announced a new album as The Mynabirds, It’s Okay To Go Back If You Keep Moving Forward, due out on November 7 via her own Our Secret Handshake imprint. The first single is “Ramona, Patron Saint of Silence,” and she says:
After the release of my last record in 2017, my voice fell silent. I buried myself in production work, helping other artists make music videos and films. I didn’t even want to touch the piano. I privately worried I’d sung every song I had in me, and publicly joked that I’d retired from singing altogether. But after losing my best friend, my dog, and my grandmother in quick succession in the middle of the pandemic, something cracked open. Sitting in an Appalachian hot spring after a grueling shoot, I finally stopped moving for the first time in years — and in that stillness, I saw how much pain I’d been avoiding, and heard the faintest whisper of my own voice calling me back.
“Ramona” was born from that moment — a song to a fictional Patron Saint of Silence, thanking her for keeping me and my voice alive. It’s about how silence can protect you temporarily, comfort you, and ultimately teach you that your voice is your greatest strength. In a time when so many are forced into silence by trauma, oppression, or survival, the song imagines a future where voices rise together in a collective choir, burning down broken systems and refusing to let those in power destroy us. For me, it’s a reminder that music isn’t something I make to sell — it’s medicine. And I still need it to survive.

CUT COPY – “BELONG TO YOU” FT KATE BOLLINGER
“‘Belong To You’ was one of the first tracks I wrote for our new album,” says Cut Copy’s Dan Whitford. “And even as an instrumental, it immediately felt like a pop song waiting to happen. The song is written about a guy who obsesses about past mistakes without realizing that the love he’s searching for has been right in front of him all along. The song has a wistful romantic quality to it so we thought it could be cool to do the song as a duet to emphasize that. And around the time we were working on this song, a friend introduced us to Kate Bollinger who is an amazing LA singer and songwriter. So we asked her to try a little vocal idea and that’s how the song took shape. When I heard Kate’s voice in the track it sounded amazing. I could almost imagine it as some kind of sci-fi country love song, so to bring that energy to it, we asked “Evil” Graham Lee (from legendary Australian band The Triffids) to provide his signature pedal steel sound. And that was the final piece of the puzzle that gave the song its magical finishing touch. Cut Copy hasn’t worked with outside performers too many times in the past. But it was a real treat to work with two artists that come from such different places musically, but complimented each other perfectly on this song.” New album Moments is out this Friday

LIAM KAZAR – “THE WORD THE WAR”
Brooklyn-via-Chicago musician Liam Kazar announced a new album, Pilot Light, due out November 7 via Congrats Records. About the lead single, “The Word The War,” he says, “I feel like I’ve experienced a lot of people who are in very strong positions in the world or in their social status, yet they’re just as alone, just as vulnerable, just as insecure, just as unhappy with what they have as all the people below them.”

ORIGAMI ANGEL – “BACK TO LIFE”
DC emo duo Origami Angel have released the first single from Counter Intuitive Records’ upcoming 10th anniversary compilation, Cosmic Debris Vol. 2. It’s a grungy, power-poppy emo song with some Weezer vibes, but done only in the way that Gami can.

SUZIE TRUE – “GET PRETTIER OVERNIGHT!!”
Los Angeles trio Suzie True announced their sophomore album, How I Learned To Love What’s Gone, due out on October 17 via Get Better Records, and shared the lead single, “Get Prettier Overnight!!!” “This song is for anyone who’s ever felt like they’re not enough – you are always enough, deserving of love and respect just the way you are, and fuck anyone who says otherwise,” they say.

CLARK – “BLOWTORCH THIMBLE”
UK electronic veteran Clark will release his new album Steep Stims on November 7 via his own Throttle Records, and you can hear him break out the fast-paced breakbeats on new single “Blowtorch Thimble.”

BRANDI CARLILE – “RETURNING TO MYSELF”
Brandi Carlile announced her eighth album and first solo project in four years, Returning To Myself, due out October 24 via Interscope/Lost Highway. She produced it with Andrew Watt, Aaron Dessner, and Justin Vernon, and she’s shared the title track, a heartfelt folk song.

SPACED – “CAUSE AND EFFECT”
Buffalo hardcore band Spaced have signed to Pure Noise and announced a new EP for the label, No Escape. Read more about lead single “Cause and Effect” here.

SUN DON’T SHINE – “WHAT YOU ARE”
Sun Don’t Shine, the supergroup featuring Crowbar vocalist/guitarist Kirk Windstein, Type O Negative guitarist/vocalist Kenny Hickey and drummer/vocalist Johnny Kelly, and former Crowbar bassist Todd Strange (formerly known as Eye Am) will release their debut LP later this year via Corpse Paint Records, and they’ve shared a new single, “What You Are.”

JANE INC. – “FREEFALL”
“We’re moving down a road at different speeds. Sometimes on that journey we encounter an unavoidable chasm,” says Caryn Bezic, aka Jane Inc. “In this song I choose to run toward it, embrace it, and let the canyon swallow me whole, because it’s the only way through.” New album A RUPTURE A CANYON A BIRTH is out October 17.

BLUE BENDY – “POKE”
Blue Bendy’s Arthur Nolan says “Poke” is, lyrically, a reaction to “terrible hedonistic tendencies” when they intersect with “rural social reclusion…but for me it’s just like any fetishized nostalgic romance pop song. Who started the rumour of my insanity, and is a Facebook poke still hot ten years on?”
