So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
DRUGDEALER & WEYES BLOOD – “REAL THING”
Natalie Mering, aka Weyes Blood, sings lead on this new single from her old friend Michael Collins, aka Drugdealer, and it’s in both of their ’70s wheelhouses.

SAFE MIND (MEMS BOY HARSHER, LUCY)
Safe Mind, the duo of Boy Harsherʼs Augustus Muller and LUCY (aka Cooper B. Handy), will release debut album Cutting The Stone on July 25. New single “Standing on Air” owes more than a little to balearic house.

MARY IN THE JUNKYARD – “DRAINS”
London’s mary in the junkyard are back with this new single and video that both scratch a very ’90s itch. “I am curious about the bowels of the city,” says singer/guitarist Clari Freeman-Taylor. “We don’t see what’s below but there are many pipes and caves, and my friend once said, ‘If you bury yourself, i will dig you out again.’ I wanted to immortalize it because it made me feel so warm.”

VINNIE STIGMA (AGNOSTIC FRONT) – “ALREADY DEAD” (RANCID COVER)
Agnostic Front founding guitarist Vinnie Stigma is releasing a new Americana album, The Outlaw Vinnie Stigma, due out June 11 via Casa Gogol Records/Generation Records, and from that he’s shared a Spaghetti Western-inspired cover of Rancid’s “Already Dead.”

UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA – “BOYS WITH THE CHARACTERISTICS OF WOLVES”
Unknown Mortal Orchestra have announced the Curse EP which will be out June 18th via Jagjaguwar. Ruban Nielson says it was inspired by Italian horror and current world events. This is the doomy first single.

HAAI – “SATELLITE” (FT. JON HOPKINS, OBI FRANKY, ILĀ & TRANS VOICES)
London-via-Australia producer, songwriter and DJ HAAi announced a new album, HUMANiSE, due out October 10 via Satellite. The first track, “Satellite,” features Jon Hopkins, Obi Franky, ILĀ, and the TRANS VOICES, and HAAi says, “‘Satellite’ encapsulates everything HUMANiSE stands for: the importance of your people and the unique humaneness we offer one another in a rapidly changing world. I feel so lucky to have shared this track with Jon and Obi, ILĀ and the Trans Voices choir. This album is for my trans and queer family and our allies, to say thank you for lighting up every space you’re in. I will always be in your army.”

HOLY FAWN – “BENEATH A LIGHTLESS STAR”
The heavy, post-rocky, genre-blurring Holy Fawn are on tour now with Rivers of Nihil and they just dropped this new standalone single. “We wanted to release something with more emotional grit that mirrored the frustration with the state of the world,” guitarist/vocalist Ryan Osterman says.

WHY BONNIE – “FAKE OUT (BEDROOM VERSION)”
Why Bonnie stripped down a few songs from her very good 2024 album Wish on the Bone and paired them with the demo of a new track for a new EP, The Bedroom, due out on July 25 via Fire Talk. The first single is the acoustic version of “Fake Out.”

SPORT – “ARE YOU THERE?”
Lyon, France emo revivalists Sport are back and they announced their first album in nearly a decade, In Waves, due June 21. New single “Are You There?” finds them in great form.

CAROLINE – “COLDPLAY COVER”
caroline’s second album, caroline 2, arrives this Friday, and ahead of that they’ve shared a final advance single, “Coldplay cover.” “This song is about the many seemingly incongruent, dissonant things that make up our experience; how we hold these multiple, contrasting things in our awareness and somehow make them into a reality that is coherent, that works together,” the band’s Jasper Llewellyn says. “In this case, there are two different songs, played at the same time, one in the kitchen, one in the living room of the same house in southeast London. The microphone moves between the two rooms.”

TWIABP – “BEWARE THE CENTRIST”
Last year, The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die released a cover of Ceremony’s 2006 hardcore classic “Kersed,” and now the post-rock/emo collective have released a hardcore song of their own, “Beware the Centrist.” Read more here.

MORGAN WADE – “THE PARTY IS OVER”
Morgan Wade announced a new album, The Party is Over (recovered), due out August 1 via Ladylike Records/Sony. It features new “recovered” versions of older material that she wrote solo, and she’s shared the title track,

RISE AGAINST – “I WANT IT ALL”

KATE NASH – “GERM”
“Using feminism to erase the rights of others is inherently un-feminist,” says Kate Nash of the inspiration behind her new single. “‘GERM’ is my response to the recent news that the Supreme Court ruled that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex and that the concept of sex is binary. Trans people were excluded from the conversation…Denying that trans people exist and having a personal desire to remove them from public spaces because it makes you uncomfortable to share spaces with trans people is transphobic. “I’d say ‘In the Heart of the Mountain’ is the closest I’ve come to making an album completely on my own terms,” Lucero’s Ben Nichols says of his first solo album in 16 years. This is the first single.

Montreal’s TOPS have announced a new album, Bury the Key, which will be out August 22 via Ghostly. It’s their first in five years and here’s the new single.

YELLOWCARD – “BETTER DAYS” (PROD. TRAVIS BARKER)
Pop punk vets Yellowcard have announced a new Travis Barker-produced album, Better Days, and it features appearances by fellow Travis Barker collaborators Avril Lavigne and Matt Skiba. It drops October 10 via Better Noise Music and the riffy title track is out now. Pick up an exclusive light blue w/ white splatter vinyl variant of the LP.
