So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
MEREBA – “COUNTERFEIT”
R&B singer and Spillage Village member Mereba has announced a new album, The Breeze Grew a Fire, due February 14 via Secretly Canadian. It’s her first album for the independent album, following multiple releases for Interscope. The first single is the soulful, clattering “Counterfeit.”

RUNNNER – “UNTITLED OCTOBER SONG”
The prolific LA singer/songwriter Runnner (aka Noah Weinman) shares a raw, bare-bones acoustic song, “Untitled October Song.”

FASHION CLUB – “GHOST” FT. JAY SOM
Fashion Club’s new album A Love You Cannot Shake comes out this Friday, and she’s given us a final preview with “Ghost,” featuring vocals from Melina Duterte of Jay Som. “This song is me talking to my younger and older selves in those moments and being like, ‘It doesn’t matter. There’s no wasted time,'” Pascal Stevenson says. “Nothing positive is going to come from viewing it like that, and everything has turned out fine and will be fine. It’s kind of an anxiety song as well about how I build things up in my mind to the point where I’m like, ‘I can’t do it.’ Then I do it, and I’m like, ‘Okay, well that was easy.'”

BUÑUEL (ex-OXBOW) – “AMERICAN STEEL” (ft. DUANE DENISON (THE JESUS LIZARD, TOMAHAWK)
Former Oxbow leader Eugene S. Robinson’s band Buñuel are releasing their new album Mansuetude this Friday (10/25) and here’s a seething new single featuring Duane Denison of The Jesus Lizard and Tomahawk.

JASMINE.4.T – “ELEPHANT”
Phoebe Bridgers signed jasmine.4.t to her Saddest Factory label over the summer, and now she’s announced her debut full-length album, You Are The Morning, due out on January 17, 2025. About new single “Elephant,” she says, “I wrote ‘Elephant’ very early in my transition about my first t4t love. It’s about when it hurts because you’re trying to be friends but you both want to be more. My life in Bristol fell apart when I came out and, having no safe place to live, I was staying on queers’ sofas in Manchester, traumatized and in no place to start a relationship. It was beyond healing recording this track in LA with Phoebe, Lucy and Julien, along with my Manchester dolls Eden and Phoenix and with extra layers from local trans musicians Vixen, Bobby, Addy and of course the incredible Trans Chorus of Los Angeles.”

DAY BY DAY – “UNTIL THEN… IT’S WAR”
Florida hardcore band Day By Day have signed to Flatspot Records and they announced a new EP, Dust and Ashes, due January 17. Here’s the raw, heavy lead single “Until Then… It’s War.”

SOCCER MOMMY – “ABIGAIL”
Soccer Mommy has shared a final single from her new album Evergreen, which is out this Friday and you can pre-order on exclusive opaque custard vinyl now. “‘Abigail’ is an ode to my Stardew Valley wife,” she says. “I made this as a cute little writing exercise, but I ended up liking it so much that I wanted to put it on the record.”

ADRIAN YOUNGE – “HUMAN ABSENCE”
Jazz is Dead cofounder and A Tribe Called Quest and Kendrick Lamar collaborator Adrian Younge has just released this new single from his upcoming album Linear Labs: São Paulo. “Human Absence is the future of my sound,” Younge says. “I’ve spent many years studying the greats and I’m happy to share my next instrumental orchestral journey with you all. ”

URIKA’S BEDROOM – “VIDEO MUSIC”
urika’s bedroom’s debut album, Big Smile, Black Mire, comes out on November 1, and the latest single is “Video Music,” which is accompanied by a self-directed video.

TOTAL TOMMY – “SPIDER”
Australian artist total tommy is set to release her debut album, bruises, on November 29 via Pias and she’s just shared what she says is her favorite track on the record. “I was writing one day and noticed a massive spider on the wall,” she says. “It became the perfect metaphor for a clingy friend I needed space from. I’ve been obsessively listening to this track ever since, pushing the production heavier and heavier with each iteration.”

CRYOGEYSER – “FORTRESS”
“Sometimes the walls you build are for safety, and sometimes you build them up to end up all alone,” Cryogeyser say of their new single. It follows last month’s “Blue Light.”

2ND GRADE – “TRIPLE BYPASS IN B-FLAT,” “INSTANT NOSTALGIA,” “SOPHOMORES IN THE WILD”
Philly powerpop practitioners 2nd Grade will release new album Scheduled Explosions on Friday and here are three more earworm nuggets to dig into.

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM – “X-RAY EYES”
LCD Soundsystem are back with this new song that sounds like the project’s early days when it was basically just James Murphy. So far you can only hear it on NTS Radio.

BONNIE ‘PRINCE’ BILLY – “OUR HOME” FT TIM O’BRIEN
Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy will release a new album, The Purple Bird, on January 31 via No Quarter. Will Oldham made it in Nashville with David “Ferg” Ferguson, marking only the second time he’s worked with a producer in his entire career. First single “Our Home” features Grammy-winning bluegrass artist Tim O’Brien.

HEPCAT – “BOBBY & JOE (RAMBO DUB)”
California ska vets Hepcat sadly lost co-vocalist Greg Lee at age 53 after he suffered a brain aneurysm earlier this year, but before he passed, he and the rest of the band worked with dub veteran Scientist on a new dub version of their 1996 sophomore album Scientific. MOMMA – “OHIO ALL THE TIME”
Momma are back with their first new single in nearly two year. “We wrote it about a summer when we were on tour, and it felt like everything in our lives changed within a one-month span,” they say. “We wanted the video to capture that youthful feeling, like the world is brand new and everything is ahead of you. We went upstate to our friend’s house near Hudson to film, and just spent the whole day goofing off and running around.”

GOOD RIDDANCE – “NO MORE SYSTEM TO BELIEVE IN”
