So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
GREG MENDEZ – “NO EVIL”
Greg Mendez has given us another taste of his highly anticipated first full-length for Dead Oceans, Beauty Land, with “No Evil.” “A lot of the time I feel locked inside my own head, or maybe it’s inside all these screens,” he says. “I’m not sure if I can tell the difference anymore. This song isn’t about that, at least not in the ‘about’ sense. It’s not trying to explain or show that in particular, it’s more coincidental. Like how a landscape painting can show the sky without being ‘about’ the sky. It can just happen to be there.”

HOLY MOTORS – “HEAVEN’S NIGHT”
Estonian psych band Holy Motors are back with their first new music in four years. “Heaven’s Night” falls somewhere between Slowdive and Mazzy Star. The band say: “‘Heaven’s Night’ is a small-town love song about a love that has become dull and tedious. In search of fun and a new feeling, anything works for one night, only to wake up missing the arms of the one you call your baby.”

DAVID BYRNE – “¿CUÁL ES LA RAZÓN?” (FT. NATALIA LAFOURCADE)
David Byrne teamed up with Natalie Lafourcade for a new version of “What Is The Reason For It?” from his 2025 album Who Is The Sky?

HORSE LORDS – “FIRST GALACTIC UTOPIA”
Baltimore experimental rock crew Horse Lords will release Demand to Be Taken to Heaven Alive! on June 12 and here’s another preview via the video by Alex Stewart who says: “I started on a computer by creating looping patterns of dashes and dots using vectors, and drew the frames on paper with a computer-controlled pen plotter, thinking the video would be cool as an animation. Once I saw the patterns animated, I realized that they would be ideal to use with video synthesizers. The textures and colors that the video feedback generated brought the drawn loops into a galactic visual space.”

JENSEN MCRAE – “ONE MORE COWBOY”
As she begins a tour, Jensen McRae has shared the studio version of “One More Cowboy,” a song she’s been performing over the past few years.

VILLAGERRR – “CAROUSEL”
Columbus, OH band villagerrr will release new album Carousel on May 29 via Winspear, and “Carousel” is the sludgy/dreamy new single. “’Carousel’ just felt like a good jumping off point for the loose concept of the album,” frontman Mark Scott says. “Lyrically I don’t know if it has much to do with the rest of it, but it feels like it sets the stage for a new world really nicely. As for the song itself, I recorded it in my basement, and you can tell.”

KNITTING – “HERE COMES”
Montreal band knitting release their new album Souvenir on June 26 via Mint Records, and they’ve given us another preview with “Here Comes.” “Lyrically, the song plays around with the push and pull between trying to keep your head above water, and wanting to give up on that and just have fun,” frontperson Mischa Dempsey says. “Above all, it’s about knowing the period of recklessness in your early 20s has an expiration date, and seeing just how long you can push it.”

DOWNTOWN BOYS – “YOU’RE A GHOST”
Downtown Boys have shared another new song from their upcoming album Public Luxury thats’ out June 26 via Sub Pop.

TURNSPIT – “DO I KNOW YOU?”
Leeds electronic duo Turnspit (not the Chicago punks of the same name) have shared a new single, the woozy electro-pop track “Do I Know You?,” which they self-produced.

BALMING TIGER – “HOME”
Korean group Balming Tiger have announced new album Gongbu which will be out May 19. The first single is “Home,” which owes more to Can than K-Pop.

EDITORS – “CALL IT IN”
Editors have shared their first new music since their 2022 album EBM. About “Call It In,” Tom Smith says, “We spent a lot of summer ‘25 holed up in rural Gloucestershire, working on songs with all of us in a room, in a more traditional band set up. ‘Call It In’ is one of the newest songs we worked on, it’s a song about asking for help, really, in the presence of an existential dread, finding solace and comfort in someone close, escaping the deafening noise of modern life.”

ALEX G – “GOOD GREEN FRIEND” & “IN THE YARD”
Alex G shared a pair of outtakes from his 2025 album Headlights, “Good Green Friend,” which he debuted at his sweaty NYC release show last year, and “In The Yard.”

HEW – “YOUR VERSION”
Hew (featuring football, etc guitarist/vocalist Lindsay Minton and bass VI player Mercy Harper) announced their debut album for Tiny Engines, and shared the title track, which you can read more about here.

CITIZEN – “HIGHS AND LOWS”
Citizen announced their sixth album, and shared the lead single, “Highs and Lows.” Read more about it here, and pre-order our exclusive “Ether” vinyl variant, limited to 400 copies, in the BV shop.
