So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
SUBSONIC EYE – “NOT LINEAR”
Singapore’s Subsonic Eye and Jakarta’s Bedchamber are releasing a spit EP on October 28 via Kolibri Rekords & Big Romantic Records, and the first single is a driving indie rock song from Subsonic Eye called “Not Linear.”

PUBLIC OPINION – “SOME DON’T”
Public Opinion have shared another track from their upcoming debut full-length Painted On Smile, and this one finds them in ’90s-style indie/alt-rock mode, propelled by the energy of their punk roots.

MUSTAFA – “OLD LIFE”
Mustafa’s debut album, Dunya, is out next month, and he’s given us another early taste with the minimal “Old Life.” He says it’s “about reminiscence, and separation, and romance being a life sentence even in tragedy.”

HANDCUFF – “KEEP, REPEAT”
London garage punks Handcuff have followed this past March’s “Crawling” with a catchy new single, “Keep, Repeat.”

SEX WEEK – “NAKED”
Sex Week’s self-titled debut EP is out this Friday, and ahead of its release they’ve shared a final advance single, “Naked,” which the duo say is “about two people with their own insecurities hoping to see and be seen beyond superficial expectations. The word naked isn’t so literal as it is more the idea of being vulnerable, and wanting to share that vulnerability with someone. Hoping that by being open, someone will in return accept you for who you are. Then, if you’re lucky, they’ll be open about their own insecurities and you can return the favor. Everyone deserves to feel love and be naked in their own way.”

FOUSHEÉ – “100 BUX”
Fousheé’s new album Pointy Heights is approaching (due 9/13 via RCA), and today she’s shared new single “100 bux,” an alternative rock-leaning song that borrows the melody of Musical Youth’s 1982 hit “Pass the Dutchie.”

PUREST FORM – “BURN”
LA industrial punks Purest Form (members of Fury, Choking On Ash, Roman Candles, Pocketknife, and more) follow their recent debut EP with “Burn,” a new single that’s equal parts pounding and caustic.

DIVINE SWEATER – “NIGHT GLITTER”
Boston’s Divine Sweater release their new album A Time for Everything in September, and the latest single is “Night Glitter,” which was inspired by vocalist Meghan Kelleher’s visit to the Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History.

SI DIOS QUIERE – “FOOL’S GOLD”
Chicago metallic hardcore band Si Dios Quiere have shared a new that vocalist Ozzy Jimenez says “is a song about heartbreak and grievance from a partner. The pain and hell one has to go through before realizing you’re going to be okay. It’s a song written like a love letter. A final letter of thank you and goodbye.”

HEMLOCK ERNST (FUTURE ISLANDS) & ICKY REELS – “REMAINS” (ft. ELUCID)
Hemlock Ernst, the rap alter-ego of Future Islands’ Samuel T. Herring, has teamed with producer Icky Reels for a new album, Studying Absence, due October 16 via Tygr Rawwk. New single “Remains” features ELUCID of Armand Hammer.

GOOGLY EYES – “INTERNET STAR”
Tove Lo has signed a new artist to her Pretty Swede label. googly eyes is releasing her debut EP, Starlet Sellout, on September 27 via her new label home, and she’s shared sparkling pop track “Internet Star” from it. “googly eyes is such an incredible artist, writer and producer, and her new EP is full of gold,” Tove Lo says. “‘Internet Star’ has such a beautiful yet witty vulnerability that I think anyone who’s had dreams that maybe didn’t go their way can relate to. I’m very excited for this project to be the first new artist release on Pretty Swede Records! Of course together with my friends at Neon Gold.”

VICTORIA MONÉT – “SOS (SEX ON SIGHT)” (ft. USHER)
R&B singer Victoria Monét has been having a real moment lately, and today she teams up with Usher for a sensual new song.

COLLAPSED SKULL (FULL OF HELL) – “THRONE OF OPPRESSION”
Full of Hell offshoot Collapsed Skull’s new album Your Father’s Rage Evaporated In The Sun comes out 9/6 via Closed Casket Activities, and if you like Full of Hell, you’ll probably like the genre-blurring aggression of “Throne of Oppression” too.

BAD MOVES – “OUTTA MY HEAD”
DC band Bad Moves release Wearing Out the Refrain on September 13 and they’ve just shared another single. The “Outta My Head” video is rather star-studded, featuring guest appearances by comedians Margaret Cho, Josh Gondelman, and Chris Gethard plus musicians Cheekface, Martha, Chris Farren, Suzie True, and more.

WHITNEY JOHNSON – “DAFNI” / MATCHESS – “DEATH IN TRAFO (OR, THE CRATER)”
Experimental musician Whitney Johnson has two albums coming out on September 27 via Drag City. Hav is out under her own name while Stena is released under her Matchess alter ego. Both are droney and dreamlike. Check out a track from each.

THE CLIENTELE – “TRAINS IN THE NIGHT”
An outtake from last year’s excellent I Am Not There Anymore, “Trains in the Night” is wistful, melancholic and peppered with perfect “bah bah bah” choruses.

TUCKER ZIMMERMAN – “BURIAL AT SEA”
Folk artist Tucker Zimmerman has been making music for more than 50 years; his 1969 debut was produced by Tony Visconti (Bowie was a fan) and he’s worked with Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Mick Ronson and more over the years. At age 83, he’s signed to 4AD records thanks in no small part to admirers Big Thief, who back him on his first album for the label, Dance of Love.
