So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
MC5 – “CAN’T BE FOUND” FT. DENNIS THOMPSON & VERNON REID
Heavy Lifting, the first MC5 album in 51, will be out in October (RIP Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thompson), and here’s “Can’t Be Found” which is one of two tracks that feature Thompson on drums, plus Living Colour’s Vernon Reid on guitar.

BOLDY JAMES & THE ALCHEMIST – “TEN PINTS”
Boldy James’ Alchemist-produced songs are always some of his best, and “Ten Pints” is no exception to that rule.

COLLAPSED SKULL (FULL OF HELL) – “DREAMLESS ERROR”
Full of Hell offshoot Collapsed Skull will follow their 2022 EP Eternity Maze with their first full-length album, Your Father’s Rage Evaporated In The Sun, on September 6 via Closed Casket Activities. The first single is “Dreamless Error,” 75 seconds of powerviolence-infused hardcore with a hip hop sample in the middle.

SARAH KINSLEY – “REALMS”
“‘Realms’ is a question of all the infinite possibilities of alternate universes and parallel planes,” Sarah Kinsley says of her new single. “In another world maybe I’m not a musician, maybe I’m a dentist, a graduate student, a barista, a child, a memory, an experience, a thing that never occurred, a person that never was! These are unknown eternities of who we might be in some other realm.” It’s from her debut LP Escaper.

CHUBBY AND THE GANG – “THERE’S A DEVIL IN THE JUKEBOX”
Feast your ears on the latest punk/pub rock ripper from the upcoming Chubby and the Gang album.

SUKI WATERHOUSE – “BLACKOUT DRUNK”
Bouncy, clap-along alt-pop song “Blackout Drunk” is the latest single off Suki Waterhouse’s new double-album, Memoir of a Sparklemuffin.

HUMAN IMPACT (UNSANE, etc) – “HOLD ON”
Human Impact, the NYC noise rock band formed by Unsane vocalist Chris Spencer and Cop Shoot Cop member Jim Coleman that now also featuers Daughters‘ Jon Syverson on drums and Made Out of Babies‘ Eric Cooper on bass, have shared the second taste of their upcoming album Gone Dark. Like the lead single, the “Hold On” apple doesn’t fall far from the Unsane tree.

MICHELLE – “MENTOS AND COKE”
NYC collective MICHELLE’s new album, Songs About You Specifically, is out next month, and the latest single is “Mentos and Coke,” which they say is “for the person you can’t help but lose yourself to. The one you just can’t stand, and can’t stand to live without.”

TYCHO – “GREEN” & “DEVICES”
Tycho (Scott Hansen) has shared two new songs off his upcoming album Infinite Health which show off two sides of his music. He says they “represent the conceptual bookends of the forthcoming album, Infinite Health. ‘Green’ is an elegy to my childhood where I spent my youth forging a deep connection with nature. ‘Devices’ represents the struggle to stay connected to nature and our own humanity in the modern world. I wanted to illustrate this tension with a set of sonically contrasting songs.”

PRONOUN – “IN THE STILL”
Pronoun’s new EP, and it’s been raining ever since, comes out at the end of the month, and she’s shared another track from it, “in the still.” “MY FAVORITE lyric of this song is ‘felt like i wasnt at the wheel so i cut my own hair,'” she writes.

JACQUES GREENE & NOSAJ THING – “RB3”
Jacques Greene and Nosaj Thing are working on an album to be released in 2025 and while we wait for details on that they’ve shared a new single. “R83” is sleek and inviting, and the pair say it was created out of “Cross country sessions, endless versions and road testing, Laptop linking, rev matching.”

CONFIDENCE MAN – “SO WHAT”
“We’re back with the on shoulders anthem you never knew you needed,” says Confidence Man’s Janet Planet of their new single. “It’s hard. It’s fast. It’s basically Muhammad Ali and your ears are everyone he ever boxed. They say it gets lonely at the top, so we made this banger to share the view.” New album 3AM (LA LA LA) is out in October.

SUPERDESTROYER – “:::GREEN:::HILL:::”
Superdestroyer will release his new album Nelson Comes To Visit on August 23 via Lonely Ghost, and the first single is the chiptune-punk song “:::green:::hill:::.”

BRANDON – “WITHOUT YOU”
Secretly Canadian’s newest signee is Brandon, whose new EP Blush comes out on September 13 via his new label home. The first single is the delicate indie-soul of “Without You.”

JAKE BLOUNT & MALI OBOMSAWIN – “MY WAY’S CLOUDY (FEAT. JOE RAINEY)”
Afrofuturist folk musician Jake Blount and indigenous bassist and composer Mali Obomsawin (Odanak First Nation) have announced a collaborative album, symbiont, which will be out September 27 via Smithsonian Folkways. Here’s the first single featuring pow wow great Joe Rainey.

SOCCER MOMMY – “M”
