So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
KRUELTY – “ABSOLUTE TERROR”
Japanese death metal/hardcore band Kruelty have shared “Absolute Terror,” a perfectly-named single from their upcoming EP Profane Usurpation.

GANG STARR – “FINISHEM”
In 2019, Gang Starr (aka producer DJ Premier and the late rapper Guru) released the new album One of the Best Yet, featuring posthumous vocals from Guru, and today they’re celebrating the album’s fifth anniversary with another never-before-heard track, “Finishem.”

HOPE OF THE STATES – “LONG WAITS IN A&E”
2000’s era UK indie band Hope of the States are reuniting in December for the first shows in nearly two decades and ahead of that they’ve shared a new song that is just as heavy and proggy as you remember them being.

EMEL FEAT. JEHNNY BETH – “FALL IN LIGHT”
Tunisian/American artist EMEL has shared this new song featuring former Savages singer Jehnny Beth that she calls “an urgent message of empathy and unity.” “I had lyrics in Arabic I had written 10 years prior but I felt their meaning was even stronger for me today,” EMEL says. “I’m happy to share this song now, especially during these troubled weeks, because it’s a song that’s ultimately about hope and strength, a song to create beauty from the most painful place, to create light from darkness, to build shelter from chaos, to bring faith in oneself so we can keep following our inner light, that one that’s just about truth and empathy. In dark times, we ultimately need each other to keep the fight for freedom and justice through art and poetry.”

TORI AMOS – “CORNFLAKE GIRL (LIVE)”
Tori Amos has announced a new live album, Diving Deep Live, due out on December 6 via Decca Records. It features songs recorded during her 2022-2023 Ocean to Ocean tour, and the first single is a live version of Under the Pink classic “Cornflake Girl.”

BRIGID MAE POWER – “IN DREAMS”
Galway, Ireland singer/songwriter Brigid Mae Power has announced a covers album, Songs For You, due December 20, and the first single is a lovely cover of Roy Orbison’s “In Dreams.”

CHAMPION, FOUR TET, SKRILLEX & NAISHA – “TALK TO ME”
Four Tet and Skrillex have been teaming up a lot lately, and today they show up on a thumping new track that’s also a collaboration with UK rapper Champion and singer Naisha.

PREVENTION – “CESSATION” & “CULTURE”
Springfield, IL straightedge hardcore punks Prevention released a very good split with Anklebiter earlier this year, and now they’ve dropped a fall promo with two more rippers. A promo often means an album is coming, and that’d be great news. We’re really looking forward to hearing more where this came from.

MAXO KREAM – “BIG HOE ME”
Texas rapper Maxo Kream has been dropping singles ahead of a new album (including his recent “Cracc Era” with Tyler, the Creator), and today brings another good one, “Big Hoe Me.”

EUPHORIA AGAIN – “ONE MORE TIME”
Euphoria Again is the long-running moniker of John Klein, who also plays in the Philly shoegaze band Knifeplay, and he’s gearing up to release a new album called Waiting On Time To Fly on 11/15 via Born Losers Records. Read more about new single “One More Time” here.

SNOOP DOGG – “GORGEOUS” (ft. JHENÉ AIKO, prod. DR. DRE)
Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have teamed up for an entire new album together for the first time since Snoop’s iconic 1993 debut album Doggystyle. It’s called Missionary, it’ll be out on December 13, and first single “Gorgeous” is out now. Read more here.
