With four of the now-defunct SubRosa‘s members playing in The Otolith, vocalist/guitarist Rebecca Vernon has now announced her debut album as The Keening. It’s called Little Bird and due October 6 via Relapse (pre-order). The album was engineered and mixed by Billy Anderson, and co-produced by Rebecca, Billy, and Witch Mountain drummer Nathan Carson. It features violin by Andrea Morgan (Exulansis).
The first single is the nearly-10-minute title track, which goes for something less heavy than SubRosa’s folk-infused doom metal, but just as slow-paced and haunting. It comes with a video directed by Ken Whiting. Check it out below.
