UK punks The Chisel have announced a new album, What A Fucking Nightmare, due February 9 via Pure Noise. It’s up for pre-order now, and we’ve got an exclusive “half black/half blood red w/ heavy white splatter” vinyl variant available in the BV shop, limited to 250. Check out a mock-up below.
The album was produced by Fucked Up’s Jonah Falco, recorded by John Atkinson, mixed by Uniform’s Ben Greenberg, and mastered by Arthur Rizk. It features the great recent single “Cry Your Eyes Out,” as well as the much angrier new single, “Fuck ‘Em.” This one’s “about people who talk but don’t have much to say: gobshites and over-opinionated knobheads,” says vocalist Cal Graham, and it’s an 80-second street punk rager that finds Cal screaming its titular phrase until his lungs give out. It comes with a Nick Suchak-directed video that takes place at a bar gig in front of a small, uninterested crowd, and you can check that out below.
The Chisel also have some US tour dates coming up in early 2024, followed by a UK tour with Rifle and then a Europe tour with Madball, Scowl, Sunami, and Mindwar.
They headline NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on January 26 with support from Home Front, Abism, and Beton Arme, and then play Baltimore’s Disturbin The Peace festival that weekend. All dates are listed below.
