Heavy music duo The Body have announced a new album, The Crying Out of Things, which will be released November 8 via Thrill Jockey. It’s their first studio album on their own in three years and they made it with Seth Manchester at his Machines with Magnets studio in Rhode Island.
“I think for us the key to the way we use noise is, it’s not the only element,” says the band’s percussionist/electronics man Lee Buford. “You’ve gotta really listen if you’re into noise. But it also has to have dynamics. Where, say, BIG|BRAVE (who have a similar ethos) expresses it in this more intellectual, minimalist way, The Body comes from an instinctual, maximalist way. We’re trying to cover it ALL.”
The first shared song from the album is “End of the Line,” a punishing, harrowing track that takes its title seriously. Listen below.
The Body recently wrapped up a collaborative North American tour with Dis Fig, with whom they made this year’s Orchards of a Futile Heaven, and they just started a European tour that includes a stop at Netherlands fest Le Guess Who? later in the fall. All dates are listed below.
