Philly heavy band Witching will follow their 2020 debut LP Vernal (and their standalone 2021 single “A Piece Of My Story Dies With Them”) with their sophomore album, Incendium, this Friday (10/27) via Translation Loss (pre-order). It’s an album that really can’t be pinned down into any specific subgenre, with elements of black metal, sludge, thrash, hardcore, ethereal goth, and more. The music goes from excruciatingly heavy to delicately pretty, and Jacqui Powell’s mix of harsh/clean vocals follows suit.
“Incendium is our next chapter into the more extreme territory,” Jacqui tells us. “Witching has grown into our actual sound, reaching into genre bending forms of metal without compromising our emotional intensity. We set a higher bar for ourselves with this record so it’s compelling us to set an even higher score with the next.”
