FUCKIN’ SLAYERRRRRRRRRRRR! The thrash legends went out on too fiery of a note to never play again, and it didn’t take guitarist Kerry King long to say the band’s split felt “premature,” so we’re very excited to learn that they are in fact back, just four years after their “final” show!
Their first two announced appearances will be at Riot Fest (billed as their “exclusive Midwest performance”), which goes down September 20-22, and the following week (September 27) at Louisville, KY’s Louder Than Life festival, whose Danny Wimmer says, “I was at their last show at The Forum in 2019 and have been working since then to bring them back to the Louder stage!” Slayer’s final Chicago show was also at Riot Fest (and is pictured above).

The band’s website was also updated to say “a new unholy gateway coming soon.” Hopefully other shows are planned too, so stay tuned until we know more.
Meanwhile, Kerry King’s debut solo album From Hell I Rise is coming out on May 17 and he’s playing festivals and opening the Mastodon / Lamb of God tour with that project too.
