Long Island melodic hardcore pioneers Silent Majority announced and quickly sold out a Long Island one-off happening on March 8 at Amityville Music Hall, and now they’ve added a second one. They’ll also play AMH on March 7 and this one has an entirely different lineup, with two other veteran Long Island melodic hardcore/emo bands who took clear influence from Silent Majority, The Movielife and Crime In Stereo, as well as reunited ’90s-era LIHC vets Edgar and newer LI emo band Innerlove. Tickets go on sale today (12/11) at noon and these will probably go quickly too.
Night one is with Kill Your Idols, Stand Still, Ten Years Out, and a surprise band that show booker John Scanlon said would be revealed at sellout but now says “The special guest for night 1 will be announced a little bit later (my baddddd).” Stay tuned!
Speaking to No Echo in 2019 about the five Long Island Hardcore bands that changed his life, The Movielife’s Vinnie Caruana said, “My first time seeing Silent Majority was at the Right Track Inn on a Sunday. Probably ’92. They stretched every boundary of what I thought was hardcore. The melodic, bouncy, lovely, warm, incredible music blew me away live, before I heard the cassette. The crowd would be filled with every Long Island band the world would come to know. Glassjaw, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, The Movielife, Crime in Stereo, and all the bands from my age group, owe a lot to Silent Majority.”
