Punk Rock Museum has announced a new exhibit celebrating one of NYC’s most beloved music venues, and no it isn’t CBGB. Photographer Nathaniel Shannon’s Saint Vitus Bar: The First 10 Years, An Oral and Visual History book on Brooklyn’s closed-but-to-be-continued Saint Vitus Bar will be the premise of a new exhibit that features photography, show posters, ephemera, and more, curated by Nathaniel and fellow photographer Lisa Johnson. Opening night (January 25, 2025) will feature a discussion between New York hardcore legend Walter Schreifels (of Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, Rival Schools, etc) and Nathaniel, moderated by SELLOUT author Dan Ozzi.
“Saint Vitus was, without question, New York’s most important music institution of the last decade,” Dan Ozzi says. “It deserves the highest caliber of documentation, and that’s what Nathaniel Shannon delivered with this book. I owe so much of my life and my career to Vitus, and I am reminded of that every time I turn the page.”
Walter Schreifels will also be a tour guide at the museum on January 25 & 26. Tickets are on sale now. Nathaniel also has other photos currently on display at the museum (as we noticed on a recent trip there).

SAINT VITUS BAR: THE FIRST TEN YEARS, AN ORAL AND VISUAL HISTORY is a massive 344-page deep dive, collaged archive, interviews, stories, photographs, posters, essays and tons of never before seen documents exploring the first decade of Saint Vitus Bar’s history, including a foreword by Walter Schreifels from Quicksand. Other contributors include Descendents, Against Me!, Anthrax, The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Armed, Chuck Klosterman and many more.
