Yesterday, Riot Fest surprised everyone by revealing that it would be happening in its usual Chicago location of Douglass Park after all, after first announcing that they’d be moving to the ‘burbs this year. Now, they’ve revealed the set times.
As part of NOFX‘s final tour, one of the five Riot Fest stages this year is “NOFX World,” which features a NOFX-friendly lineup each day. NOFX close out the stage with 90-minute sets each day, and they go on at the same time as the festival’s headliner each day: Fall Out Boy on Friday, Beck on Saturday, and Slayer on Sunday. And because of NOFX World, three bands are on at once during the headlining slot this year. Friday also has the Marley Brothers performing Bob Marley songs, Saturday has Riot Fest staples Taking Back Sunday, and Sunday has the new lineup of Sublime. Though Pavement are technically co-headlining Saturday, they play right before Beck and don’t conflict with NOFX, but they do conflict with another veteran indie band, Bright Eyes.
Other Friday conflicts include The Offspring vs Circle Jerks vs Public Enemy, Cypress Hill vs Sum 41, Hot Mulligan vs Face to Face vs Drug Church, and ALL vs Spiritual Cramp.
Other Saturday, conflicts include Descendents vs L.S. Dunes, Spoon vs Lagwagon vs Beach Bunny, Manchester Orchestra (playing Cope for its 10th anniversary) vs Dillinger Four vs Basement, HEALTH vs D.O.A. vs Clutch, The Hives vs The Armed, and Buzzcocks vs The Dead Milkmen vs Sweet Pill. The first half of Waxahatchee‘s set overlaps with Spoon and the second half overlaps with St. Vincent.
Other Sunday conflicts include Rob Zombie vs Pennywise, Lamb of God vs Laura Jane Grace & Catbite’s Operation Ivy cover set vs Something Corporate, Suicidal Tendencies vs Tierra Whack, The Vandals vs Slaughter Beach Dog, Strung Out vs Cursive. Those into the current hardcore scene might be bummed that Sunami cuts into Fiddlehead, which then cuts into GEL.
