Chicago black (and more) metallers Immortal Bird have announced their third album and first in five years, Sin Querencia, due October 18 via 20 Buck Spin (pre-order). “We took time to experiment,” the band says, “and there are things on this record we’ve never done.”
The album was recorded, engineered, and mixed by Pete Grossmann, and they made this one as a three-piece, with Rae Amitay on vocals/keys/synth, Matt Korajczyk on drums, and Nate Madden handling all the guitars and most of the bass. The band’s new bio promises that the album “[abandons] genre constraints,” fusing black & death metal, hardcore, and noise rock, and recalling bands like Gorguts and Ulcerate. The first single is “Plastered Sainthood,” which definitely isn’t just your average black metal song, and you can hear that one below.
