Porno for Pyros share final single “Fingernail”

Having wrapped up their reunion-turned-farewell tour in March, Porno for Pyros have now shared another new single, “Fingernail,” which they say will be their last. As Stereogum points out, it’s another unreleased ’90s era track that was finished and recorded more recently, and it was produced by Robert Adam Stevenson, who also contributed piano, string arrangements, and mixing. On social media earlier the band wrote that “It was originally supposed to come before the tour, we tried, but even the best laid plans don’t always work out,” and called it “a beautiful song, one that we hope resonates with you as it does with us.” “The moment the melody touched the words I knew it would be a special song,” Perry Farrell says. “But I was too immature to understand the essence fully.” He continues, “There is no pain in the cutting of our hair, eyelashes or a fingernail, because they are dead, although the world at every instant is renewed. The death invested within us is pushed out, and the soul is again restored.” “Fingernail is a true marriage of story meets storytelling in twisted harmony,” drummer Stephen Perkins says. “Fingernail to me is the art of patience while in recovery,” guitarist Peter DiStefano says. “In Fingernail, I hear our lives, and yours,” bassist Martyn Le Noble adds. “Decades of growing. Happiness, heartbreak, tension, loss and joy… growing pains. In this case it took almost 30 years for this song to slowly grow into what it is now. And, the way the song ends….
