Not only are Philly shoegazers Nothing celebrating the 10th anniversary of Tired of Tomorrow at their own Slide Away festivals (which feature Hum and Chapterhouse reunions) in 2026, they also just announced their fifth album, A Short History of Decay, due February 27 via Run For Cover. We’ve got an exclusive “sour apple glitter” vinyl variant of the album that comes housed in green PVC bag with Nothing’s logo screenprinted on the front. That’s limited to 300 copies and up for pre-order in the BV shop now. Check out a mock-up below.
A Short History of Decay is Nothing’s first album for Run For Cover but not their first time working with the label–they released a split with Whirr on the label back in 2014. Nothing’s lineup has shifted a bit over the years, and bandleader Domenic Palermo made this one with Cloakroom singer Doyle Martin on guitar, Best Coast’s Bobb Bruno on bass, drummer Zachary Jones (MSC, Manslaughter 777), and guitarist Cam Smith (Ladder To God, Cloakroom). The album was also written and co-produced “in close collaboration” with Whirr guitarist (and former Nothing member) Nick Bassett, with additional production and mixing from Sonny Diperri (DIIV, Animal Collective, etc). Other contributors to the album include harpist (and past Nothing collaborator) Mary Lattimore and a brass section led by Corridos musician Jesus Ricardo Ayub Chavira.
The first single is “Cannibal World,” an ethereal, blissful song with breakbeats and some very MBV-style melodies/atmosphere. It comes with a video by Icysaw that you can check out below.
Nothing’s Slide Away festival takes place in Brooklyn (5/15-16), Chicago (5/22-23), and LA (5/29-30) this spring (tickets). They also have two Tokyo shows in February, including one with Envy. All dates are listed below.
