In addition to Power Trip making their return (with a new singer) for select shows, Power Trip drummer Chris Ulsh’s band Mammoth Grinder are gearing up for their first tour in 6 years (with Nails, who just released their first album in 8 years), and now Mammoth Grinder have announced a new EP. Titled Undying Spectral Resonance, it arrives November 15 via Relapse and it’s the band’s first release since 2018’s Cosmic Crypt. Ulsh played all the instruments and handled all the vocals on this one, and he made it at longtime collaborator Arthur Rizk’s new home studio outside of Philly.
The first single is the title track, which finds Mammoth Grinder’s punk-infused death metal sounding as nasty as ever. About the song/EP title, Ulsh says, “It’s about the sinister ambience of a place where something morbid has happened, how it can be a gateway between earth and the immaterial world.” Listen and watch the video below.
Ulsh has also revamped Mammoth Grinder’s live lineup, which now includes Sebastian Phillips (Noisem, Exhumed) on guitar and Andy Horn (Loud Night) on bass, along with longtime drummer Ryan Parrish (Iron Reagan, City of Caterpillar, ex-Darkest Hour). The tour with Nails also includes 200 Stab Wounds and Tribal Gaze and that hits NYC’s Brooklyn Monarch on September 20 with additional support from Stabbed. All dates are listed below.
