Slayer had what was supposed to be their second show in five years (following their return to the stage at Riot Fest) cancelled when Louisville, KY festival Louder Than Life was forced to cancel its second day due to severe weather. The festival offered Friday ticketholders passes to Saturday or Sunday, and they’ve now announced that four-day and Friday ticketholders will be given tickets to see Slayer’s next scheduled set, which happens at Sacramento, CA’s Aftershock on October 10. “Missed Slayer at Louder Than Life? We’re heartbroken too,” organizers write. “But we’ve got something special for all Friday and 4-Day Louder Than Life pass holders: an exclusive chance to see Slayer at Aftershock in Sacramento on Oct 10! Check your email for details on how to RSVP! Please note that this isn’t the only thing we’re working on for you, to make up for Friday’s cancelation at Louder Than Life. Accepting this offer will not disqualify you from additional compensation. Stay tuned for more information later this week. Thank you for your continued patience and support!”
They also replied with an additional comment, writing, “I know flights aren’t cheap and PTO isn’t always easy to come by. this is not the only thing we’re working on to make it up to you, but we wanted to give y’all something in the meantime.”
Aftershock is currently Slayer’s only other scheduled show, and like Louder Than Life, it’s put on by Danny Wimmer presents. Its Friday lineup also features a few other artists who had been scheduled for Louder Than Life on Friday — Til Lindemann, Gel, and Ho99o9 — as well as Ministry, Filter, Pantera, Cypress Hill, Drain, Drug Church, Biohazard, Better Lovers, Touché Amoré, and more.
Slayer themselves have not made a statement at this time about their cancelled set. Guitarist Kerry King did just announce his own 2025 tour, however.
