Japanese hardcore/death metal fusionists Kruelty have announced a new EP, Profane Usurpation, following their killer 2023 LP Untopia. It’s their first release since vocalist Tatami left the band and guitarist Zuma took over on lead vocals, and it’s their first release for Closed Casket Activities, who will release the EP on November 22, following two albums on Profound Lore (pre-order).
The first single is the title track, a song that finds Kruelty sounding as brutal and bone-crushing as ever. As Zuma puts it, “Death metal, grindcore, hardcore, and punk, all existing in one record, is an ideal form for any old school, heavy music fans.” Check out the song and its video (by Seijiro Nishimi) below.
Kruelty were supposed to begin a North American tour supporting Undeath (whose new album More Insane came out last week) on September 25 in LA, but visa issues forced the band to delay their trip. They finally made it over here in time for the Seattle show on October 2, and they’re gearing up to hit NYC with Undeath on October 20 at Meadows, alongside tourmates Gates To Hell. Unfortunately though, Torture were supposed to be on that dates and several others but had to drop off the tour after all of their touring members quit. Updated dates are listed below.
