Philadelphia festival Roots Picnic has announced its 2026 edition, happening at a new location, Belmont Pleateau on May 30 and 31. JAŸ-Z and The Roots will headline Saturday, which will be their first performance together in over a decade, and JAŸ-Z’s first announced live appearance since he joined Beyoncé to wrap up her Cowboy Carter tour in Paris on “Crazy in Love,” “Drunk in Love,” and “Ni**as In Paris” last year. The rest of the lineup is still to be announced.
The flyer and official fest announcements all have Jay-Z stylized as JAŸ-Z which is how it was on the cover of Reasonable Doubt which is turning 30 this year.
“Moving the Roots Picnic to Belmont Plateau and bringing JAŸ-Z and The Roots together to perform are both bucket-list moments for us,” Shawn Gee, manager of The Roots and President of Live Nation Urban, says. “After meeting with Mayor Cherelle Parker and hearing her vision for Philadelphia 250, she truly inspired us to dream even bigger, and we’re grateful to her, Commissioner Susan Slawson, Jazelle Jones and everyone who helped make it happen. We can’t wait to see everyone in May at the Plat.”
