Experimental rapper/producer Backxwash has been teasing her new album Only Dust Remains for a while, and today she revealed details. It comes out March 28 via self-release/Ugly Hag (pre-order), and today brings second single “9th Heaven,” following the epic, seven-minute “Wake Up” that Backxwash released last year. “9th Heaven” clocks in at a leaner four minutes and 21 seconds, but it feels just as towering and climactic as the previous track. From the heart-on-sleeve lyricism to the expressive delivery to the innovative, shapeshifting musical backdrop, this is no average rap song. Check it out below.
Backxwash celebrates the new album with a hometown Montreal show in April and has a few European festival appearances coming up, with more 2025 dates TBA. All currently-announced dates are listed below.
