The Cure share awesome Daniel Avery remix of “DRONE:NODRONE” from ‘Mixes of a Lost World’

The Cure are releasing Mixes of a Lost World, the remix companion to last year’s great Songs of a Lost World, on June 13 (preorder) and they’ve just shared Daniel Avery‘s rework of “DRONE:NODRONE.” The original is one of the heaviest, most searing songs on the album; in Avery’s hands it’s still heavy, but he makes it a serious dancefloor banger by bringing the funk elements that were there under all those guitars to the forefront and adding clubby beats and his signature atmospheric style. It’s almost more akin to “Hot Hot Hot” in this form. You can watch the video for Avery’s remix, and listen to the original, below.

The double LP vinyl edition features contributions from Avery, Four Tet, Orbital, Paul Oakenfold, Mura Masa and more, and the 3-disc CD edition adds eight more remixes by Mogwai, Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Trentemøller, The Twilight Sad, and more. Pre-order those now.

In other news, Daniel Avery is one third of Demise of Love, alongside Working Men’s Club and Ghost Culture, and their debut EP is out today.
