Shortly after the release of her very good debut LP, choke enough, in February, French artist Oklou postponed her planned North American tour because of her pregnancy. She made it stateside earlier this month, though, playing at some upgraded venues, including in NYC, where two nights at Elsewhere were rescheduled to one very sold out Knockdown Center show on October 17. She was joined by Casey MQ for that very vibey set, where she performed amid a series of white-sheeted risers. An eight-piece choir joined her for part of the show, and while the crowd was into it the whole time, the whole room really popped off for “harvest sky,” which underscores came out for. Ahead of the shows, Oklou recorded a Tiny Desk Concert with Casey MQ and the choir, performing “ict,” “blade bird,” and “harvest sky” from Choke Enough, and “what’s good” from the upcoming deluxe edition of the album (which is out on October 30 and also includes “viscus,” her collaboration with FKA twigs). Oklou has shows in Europe and the UK in November and December, Australia in February, and returns to North America in April for Coachella. See all dates below.
